I met with one staff at Alameda Healthcare & Wellness Center during my visit. I saw one room. It was very clean. Some of the places have a lot of stuff in the hallways; but in this place, their hallways are clean. What concerned me about this place is that they accept non-COVID vaccinated people. You don't have to be vaccinated. They have a special section for non-vaccinated people, so that concerned me a little bit. They have a great room, which was nice, very large, open and spacious. It had a piano in the middle of it. They have a large recreation room or activity room. They also had outdoor space, and they are close to the beach. I thought it was nice.

My mother is at Alameda Healthcare & Wellness Center. It's a skilled nursing and rehab facility. It has a short-term, long-term, and a subacute area, 24-hour nursing care, and CNAs. She has one roommate, and the ratio is the legal licensing ratio for staff members and residents. The food changes because they change chefs, and it can go from really bad to OK. They have an activity team there so they have anything from outings to bingo, and arts and crafts. They have people that come in from outside and they have entertainment. She does rehab every day. They're just overpriced.

DONT EVER send your loved ones to Alameda Healthcare and Wellness. Every place including Alameda Heathcare and Wellness lied to us about the services and care offered. No admissions care plan was set up when family was admitted and no follow up. Building and rooms are dirty, old and cramped. Staff dont read patients' charts and endanger them with diet and baseline needs. If I could get someone to answer the phone I was transferred 5-7 times everytime. All staff were defensive and obviously bothered by trying to get care updates. The social worker did not have any answers and always tried to refer me to someone else. I literally had to stand in the middle of the lobby with my Mom and and Husband until someone would meet with us. I could go on but its enough. You get the picture. Trying to fight for care for family has been soul crushing. Only one staff I can say good things about is physical therapy.

My mom is in rehab at Alameda Care Center (formerly Bay View Nursing). I didn't select it, the hospital did. I don't care for it at all. When I first walked in there, I couldn't find anybody and when I asked them to move my mother, they looked at me kind of like, "Why do we want to move your mother?" The physical therapists seem to be really good though. Some staff don't get the patients up like they should and the place smells like urine, which it should not. Almost all the nurses were taking a break at the same time, so there was nobody on the floor and nobody at the front desk when you sign in. I couldn't ask anyone what room my mom was in.

Mom is at Bay View Nursing and Rehab. It changed management, so that itself has its own challenges. And I think they still have a contract with Kaiser. It's an older facility, but it's clean. The new management has already started some renovations. For the most part, the services are fine. The food seem to be well thought out. I've met with the dietitian. She seem to be a nice person and interested with the patient. They could improve on communication and better planning for meetings. Anytime there's a change, there has to be a letter or specifically meetings so that people can ask questions. They should have a better way of communicating.

I think Bay View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was a big mistake. When my husband's knees sort of gave way and he collapsed on the floor, I called the fire department for help because I couldn't lift him and then took him to the hospital. The hospital couldn't tell me what was exactly wrong with him until finally, they said that he has to go into rehab. I sort of give in and I'm really regretting it. When he got out of the hospital he could walk around using a walker, but then they put him in a wheelchair and in a bed that was too short for him at the nursing center, so his knees were bent all the time. He was there for six weeks. Now, he's home and he can no longer walk or even stand up even though the discharge said that the object was accomplished. I'm having a terrible time transferring him from the wheelchair to the bed and vice-versa. I'm very distressed and trying not to get too depressed, but I'm really frustrated. The girls that took care of him were very nice, they were all polite and everything was fine in the beginning. The food was inedible but it sort of improved towards the end. I tried to get him out of there on the first week but they kept saying no because he was improving and he really wasn't. They could have been more honest with me.
