Assisted Living Communities in Nacogdoches, TX

"Our tour at Meadowview Place was very nice. They showed my mother the two rooms that she was interested in, but neither one of them go out into a courtyard. They don't have courtyard openings. They have a beautiful courtyard, but with her having the cat, she wanted the courtyard entrance. There was nothing wrong with the place. It was beautiful. They have stations for puzzles. They have exercises. They go to places with their bus. You can do your laundry or they'll do your laundry. The dining room smelled delicious. They have more of a nursing home atmosphere there. And that's where we're going, to choose that place if and when it comes to the point of my mother needing nursing care, but at this point, she does not. She's quite capable of taking care of herself, but just not alone. They have a lot a lot of activities inside the building like Veterans Day and such as that, and of course they have the amenities of the salon. It's also within ten minutes from my home. The place was very clean and very well laid out."

"My tour at Magnolia Court Assisted Living & Memory Care was nice. They showed me three different apartments. They gave me a rundown on the prices. I was doing it by myself without my mother and I was impressed with Magnolia Court, and I felt that would be the place for her. When she toured it at a later date, she chose an apartment, and so we began the process. My mother would have a kitchenette, a living room, a dining room, and then a wide doorway that goes into her bedroom, and then a very large bathroom with a nice closet. She chose to go out onto the courtyard because she has a cat, and it is very nice for her to have the cat to go out on the courtyard. The courtyard is enclosed. It's set out to different areas for you to visit with your family if you want to, or just get some sun and enjoy the weather. It's a very nice and a very safe feeling place. They have a beauty salon, a room for crafting and games, regular exercise areas, and a community room that's really nice with a very large TV. They have a van, and they take trips to eat out. When I was there one day, they had all gone to the Cracker Barrel and came back, and they were happy. My mother is really excited. She's going to be quite entertained. She is a very social person, and that's why we chose it, because it's going to have proper care and she can be social. The dining room was beautiful. The menu looked delicious. They have an ice cream bar and a happy hour with the ice cream bar around, so that sounded fun. They have a little area where they have plants, and my mother is really excited about that because she's a gardening person. Just beautiful amenities. The price is right, which was one thing, it wasn't outrageous. And it did not feel like a nursing home, which she's not ready for that. She's only 88 and she's not ready for a nursing home."

"Countryside Senior Living of Lufkin was a wonderful place. We got there around lunchtime and they showed us the menu. The smell of the food was very, very pleasant. The facility was very clean and open. You can see the grounds where they have bird feeders, bird baths, and a place you can go and enjoy the outside. James was the one who showed us the 4 or 5 rooms that were available for people. He was very nice and told us everything we needed to know if we were to go to that facility. He was very knowledgeable."

"We visited The Arbor Assisted Living & Memory Care. I think they were very professional, very clean, and excellent. The staff was absolutely the best. They're excellent. The rooms were perfect. They had a kitchenette, a living area, a bedroom, and a large bathroom. They were just perfect little living spaces. I would recommend this place because of the environment. From the staff to the actual physical living condition, it was just all excellent. They care so much, and they are just above and beyond the assisted living experience that I have seen. They had us go through a different door, they checked us carefully with the temperature, and they had limited area to view. They handled it correctly and no one had the opportunity to go in and physically see the place."

"This seemed to be a very clean and well kept assisted living home. Upon entering the facility, there was a large open room that was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The people who lived there were clean and looked well taken care of. We met with the manager who was on duty at the time. She seemed very kind, and had the interest of the residents as her first priority. As we met with the individual residents, we went into some of their bedrooms, especially of the people who were unable to come listen to our performance. The rooms were a good size, and seemed quite comfortable and clean. The only thing that could have made this assisted living facility a little bit better would have been if the smell of the home had been fresher. I don't know if anything can be done about that, and it was no different than any other assisted living facility I have ever visited. They just always seems to smell not-so-fresh! Other than that, this place was one of the best I have ever seen, and I would certainly recommend it to those who are looking for a place for their lived ones to live with assistance! "

"I loved PineCrest Retirement Community. It was really beautiful. It was a red brick building and then they had little houses and garden homes. It was gated and my aunt likes the thought of that. When I walked in front of the independent living building, it was pretty in there and everybody was really active and moving around doing stuff. That seemed more like what my aunt was looking for, because she's very active herself. There was a big piano in this big hall and somebody was playing it, and it was beautiful. I talked to the activities director lady and the things they do just sounded awesome."
