Lafayette lies to the northeast of Nashville and has about 4,500 residents, roughly 900 of whom are seniors. The city is known for its many locally owned shops and restaurants, providing a small-town atmosphere enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Seniors here enjoy two local parks, including Key Park, which offers a paved walking path, a pavilion with a grill and picnic tables and playgrounds for visiting grandchildren to enjoy.Â
In some cases, seniors who need help with some daily living activities may move to an assisted living facility, which provides housing, meals and supportive services. Lafayette has two facilities within its city limits, and there are two more in nearby Hartsville. Like all assisted living facilities in the state, these facilities are governed by the Tennessee Department of Health. Â
