"The Gold Quartz Retirement Home seemed like a very nice place to stay if you are in need of living assistance. The staff was kind and warm and clearly had a good rapport with the residents. They were also very nice and accommodating for the students, including myself, who were visiting to spend time with the residents. The retirement home is in a good location, surrounded by trees and in a very nice neighborhood. There seemed to be a lot to do if you lived there. People were playing games and telling stories all over the place! The residents seemed very happy and open to people visiting with them. They were so welcoming to me and my fellow club members. All the facilities seemed well kept and clean. The bathrooms were nice and well-lit. I went into the kitchen to grab a snack and it also seemed very tidy and sanitary. And the smell was much better than your average retirement home. "

"This is a residence for mentally challenged men and women. Our son had been there for several years and has improved tremendously over the past few years, It is an excellent home with many activities for the residents to enjoy, especially sports. They also go on at least one trip a year such as Disneyland. The rooms are shared and are very nice. The residents can decorate their area with their own choices. The caregivers are wonderful people who have been in the field of special education for many years and understand the residents extremely well. Unfortunately there are not many homes like this but we were fortunate to find it, We would recommend it to anyone if they have an opening and those are few and far between."

"Apple Country Care Home # 2 has six bedrooms and six residents, and we're really happy with it. A nurse and her husband own this facility in a house and own another one in Camino. This place in El Dorado is for residents requiring 24-hour care who cannot do anything for themselves. We really like it because we need to trust the caregivers and consistency. With only six residents, the care providers know their residents quite well, and they've been very good with my mom-in-law. The food is so-so, but it is nutritious and that's what's important. "

"Blissful Gardens have everything necessary to care for my mother, and they're very, very friendly and very attentive. They check on their residents at least once an hour or sometimes every 30 minutes. They have a small group of residents, about 12 of them (including my mother). I think they opened in February, so they're new and are planning to expand. Everything is going very, very well. They are in good contact and communication with us. We've seen her every day, so we're very satisfied. The staff is fantastic and couldn't have been any better. Every one of them is very helpful and came to introduce themselves to me and my mother. They assisted us in moving her things, and even one of the staff came in on their day off. They did everything they could. They helped us get everything arranged and get all the paperwork done. She has a private studio, and she's very happy with it. It's like her own bedroom, and then the facility is more like her home. They're very down to earth people and not overly extravagant, which my mother enjoys. They do different activities on different days too, like miniature golf, cards, puzzles, and group activities. Sometimes they turn on music and dance with the residents, and other things to keep them occupied and social."

"Our mom received excellent care the last year of her life at Eskaton. The staff was caring and kind. They were like family to us. Any concerns were addressed quickly. "

"New West Haven was very clean and homey. The facility was great. It had a good atmosphere and the people were friendly. The staff was fine. There were a couple of them that I went through the house. I don't know their names, but it was a good meeting and they were a good example of what I'm looking for, but the primary thing that's weighing me is the monthly rent. They were enjoying games, poker, cards, and exercises. That's just what comes around. I like to play cards and I like poker and they have that. They have all the amenities. They have a steam shower and sauna. The people were fantastic."

"The staff of Sunshine Glory Care Home are really amazing. They really care for their clients. They provide personalized support. You can feel their love as they do their job. They don't just help you physically but more so spiritually. They know how to encourage & inspire you when you are down. I really love these guys. They are not perfect but they are real people, especially the owner, Merly A. She is an amazing woman. She goes out of her way just to help you. "

"Gold Country Health Center has the best reputation in this area, but we felt it was too much of a hospital, institutionalized setting. The staff was very nice when we toured. I don't have any complaints about that, but we just didn't feel it was the right place for my mother-in-law. She would have been in a shared room and the showers were public, so she wouldn't have her own bathroom. There were a number of different options there, but for my mom-in-law with advanced Alzheimer's, we had very limited options because she needed 24-hour care. The place was clean, and the staff was nice. "

"I chose Woodridge Place for my husband because it is clean, small and compact. It is not chaotic like the other large facility where he was at. It is a residential care facility for six people, so it is very homey. Because it is small, he doesn't have to walk very far to go from one place to another. The meals they have for their residents are very good. They are all home-cooked meals. It smells good when you walk in and it is very nice. Their staff is very caring. Their activities are very limited though this is mainly because most of the residents are not participating. My husband for example does not participate as much. They have a piano there that he will play with occasionally. They have puzzles and games in the table but they are not participating. Otherwise, it is a safe and caring place. It is the right place for my husband and I'm very happy he is there. "

"We went to Serrano Manor. It was very positive, we enjoyed it very much, and it was a good location close to where I live. We liked it very much. "My dad has moved into Queen of Hearts of El Dorado Hills. It's new, it's a remodeled home, and it's beautiful. Every room has two entrances, one to a yard and one from the corridor. It's very spacious and clean. They have a lot of high-end amenities. The staff is wonderful. They have one or two for six people, which is great. There's an activities director, too. They have a family get-together in the yard. The yard is spacious with a view, and there are a lot of walking paths for wheelchairs or walkers. About the food, they make whatever you like, so they serve fresh salmon and the people like that."
