My grandfather was recently placed in this nursing home; when we were given a tour of the facility they showed the room he would be placed in which looked nice but once he was transfered from the VA to the home he was placed in the most pathetic excuse of a room that looks more like a storage room with dim lighting and water stains on the ceiling. They chose to cut off most of his regular meds and keep feeding him increased amounts of morphine when his pain hasn't increased since being in the VA. I am truly disgusted in this place.

Placing my husband in nursing care was urgent as I suffered an accident and could no longer provide full care for this Alzeimers patient, nor research facilities. There were two options available: Concordia, a rather unattractive older facility and a much newer one with more modern decor and amenities. To all outward appearances, the more modern facility took precedence. We would prefer bright attractive surroundings over older less attractive for our loved one of course. However when the staff showed us arround Concordia, the personal interactions and reactions were warm and genuine between residents and staff. One resident said he had been in several facilities and this was by far the best. We observed that staff knew and spoke gently to or joked with each resident they passed and the residents responded in kind. So the decision was made on our observations of the personal interaction of staff with residents rather than new equipment and decor. We were never sorry and began to enjoy that same care and concern and personal interaction with our patient and our family. Concordia is in the process of upgrading the facility and grounds and making it much more attractive, However, every family should choose personal concern and care for the patient over lovely facilities.

My father was here for about six weeks until he was strong enough to return home from a bad illness. The staff was so caring and concerned about him. They also took much time to explain anything family had questions about or to sit down with us to talk about any concerns. Their meals were excellent and i had many with my dad at a nominal fee. His room was very comfortable,kept very clean,and he was extremely well taken care of. I was so impressed with the nursing staff and how considerate they were of my father and all the other patients. They also had a walking trail,aquarium,bird atrium,and a deck,plus other outdoor setting areas,one with lots of turtles. There were also many activities for the patients to enjoy. I have never been to such a wonderful care facility as this and would highly recommend it to anyone. Also the medical director is a very well known and highly respected doctor from this area.
