I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Very warm and friendly until we checked in our family member. Then they just keep increasing the cost and telling us they they "can't watch him all the time" and that if he needs to go to the bathroom they may not be able to help in time. We are currently looking for another alternative.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother lived here for about two years. She loved every second of it. It is hard to find a community that feels like home. The staff were so helpful and patient even when my mom become a lot to handle. They did everything they could for her. The rooms are great. GREAT maintenance workers as well. Ask and they will get it done. DEFINITELY make this the next home for you or your parents. You will not regret it.

I visited this facility

Highgate at Prescott Lakes was very pleasant and seemed clean. The staff who gave me the tour was quite nice. The dining area looks very nice and pleasant. The rooms were small and didn’t have a good view even though they were perched on top of the mountain. They had a library and a barber shop.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

In November 2017, I moved my 91 year old mother from WA State to Highgate Prescott. She remains both mentally alert and physically active. I sought an athmosphere where this status would continue. Since move in to this modern facility, she has maintained this status with new friends, good meals, exercise classes, walks in the Highgate neighborhood and participating in their social activities. This has allowed her to age gracefully. Highgate’s staff is available to help her when needed which allows me to manage her care from Phoenix. If your senior family member seeks this kind of lifestyle, Highgate Prescott offers a good choice for either those living in the Prescott-Phoenix area or seeking to relocate from a further distance. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

When it was time to move my mother to AZ from FL, I visited all of the options in my town. Although Highgate was not the most convenient location for me, I am very happy with my decision to place her in this facility. My mother's memory is failing, yet she is still very social and likes to stay active. What makes Highgate so nice is that it is relatively small. My mother doesn't get lost trying to find her apartment and all of the residents get to know each other. The staff is friendly and and they know all of the residents names. They do have many activities and encourage the residents to participate. The facility itself is very nice. It is tastefully decorated and kept clean. The apartments are small but don't seem institutional and most have very nice views of our great AZ scenery. They have a menu of services that you can sign up for. Such as help with medications, or other personal needs. Right now my mother gets some help, but if her memory deteriorates she will be able to transition to the memory care side for more comprehensive care, which is another reason I chose Highgate.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad has been a resident of the Cottage Memory Care facility for @ 6 weeks. I am also a practicing RN (though no one at Highgate knows that). I am so impressed with the level of care my dad is getting. The staff are just awesome, they know all the residents by name, and are in communication with with one another and the residents constantly. The calmness and quiet supervision, re-direction, acknowledgment, and genuine caring is obvious. I walk in unannounced and can see how well all the residents are cared for--completely impressed with the staff and the program.

I am a friend and POA of your current resident who has now been there for about 2 weeks. She has been in other places like this but has never received the care she is now getting. Very Impressed with the staff and the care givers and how they seem to cater to a new resident which has been missing prior to this Hope we can continue with the current situation Thanks to all your staff

My mother has been in Highgate now for two weeks. The staff has been wonderful in helping her adjust to the Cottages. They are caring, professional and attentive. It has been very comforting to us to know that Mom is being cared for and safe.

I visited this facility

We visited Highgate. It’s very nice and has a very nice appearance. It is only about four years old. However, the room was small for a one-bedroom, and my mother didn’t like it. Nevertheless, the things that they had going there were really good, like yoga and the movie theater. The staff who assisted me was great, too.

The staff is efficient and caring. The atmosphere is warm and feels like home. My mom keeps busy with activities that she's interested in and enjoys. She has told me that the residents and staff are like one big family. My siblings and I like knowing that she's comfortable and well taken care of.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother has been living at Highgate since December 2015. It was a hard transition for her because she was previously living with us. The staff was very caring and understanding and made every attempt to make her feel comfortable and welcome in her new surroundings. She is quite happy now that she has made friends and enjoys the many activities there. Whenever we have a concern, the administration is quick to respond and makes every effort to accommodate our and her needs.

I visited this facility

My visit at Highgate Senior Living was pretty good. It's a new facility that seemed a little progressive. It has a cool, more modern, more edgy feel to it. The residents were having so much fun. It is a smaller facility which is what I like for my mom. The staff member who gave us the tour may be the reason why I liked the facility so much. She had a sense of humor and was witty, funny, and upbeat. I liked her personality.

I have placed my mother at Highgate. The facility is clean and feels very much like a resort. The services they offer with the base rent price are more than at the other facilities I looked at. The food is good; it is all made fresh every day. The rooms are very adequate with plenty of space for what’s needed. The whole place is nice. The staff is very friendly and very efficient.

This is a very lovely ALF. A relatively small community, Highgate offers personalized attention, and a very friendly, caring atmosphere. My mother-in-law currently resides there and has made many friends, both residents and staff members. Activities are plentiful, although I would like to see a bit more variety, especially in bringing in outside performers. The facilites overall are fantastic: My mother-in-law has a small but comfortable, well planned, studio unit, which is just enough for her, but they have both one and two bedroom apartments as well. There is a beautiful movie theater with recently added Netflix, multilple seating areas, fireplaces and flat screen TV's, In addition, there are nice grounds and seating areas, although not large. There is a spa where you can get massages, a great beauty salon, and a lovely Bistro for coffee and snacks all day long. The views are amazing, especially from the third floor. The food is solid, but not spectacular. They have recently expanded the "Always Available" menu, which helped. The care partners are caring and attentive. Medication administration is timely and accurate. There is a nurse in the building all day, and she is available by phone 24/7. The head nurse is very efficient. Free transportation to doctors appointments is included, but only on Tuedays and Thursdays. Everyone there is approachable and friendly, right up to the Executive Director. To me, this is the most important quality of a facility like this. I have never gotten a "no" when I have asked them for help with anything. My mother-in-law truly feels like she is home. No place is perfect: we continue to try to work with the administration to improve the choices and quality of the menu. However, I can confidently recommend Highgate Senior Living to anyone seeking a caring, well appointed ALF.

I am a friend or relative of resident

A year ago we needed to quickly move my parents out of their home in Prescott and into a community where they would get the constant attention and care we could not give them from California. They'd watched Highgate being built, then toured it once it opened ~ deciding this would be the place they could live in. It was nice already having their "OK" when the time came. I cannot say enough about the help and support EVERYONE at Highgate gave and continues to give BOTH my parents and myself ~ from rapidly going through the steps to get my folks ready to make the move, helping them settle and get used to new routines, keeping me informed of anything out of the ordinary, to ALWAYS presenting a smile and truly caring attitude (it's the Arizona way). If there are questions I have, they will have or find the answers in a timely manner ~ making the long distance management of my parents care a breeze. If there is anything negative to be said (this coming from my Dad ~ so take it the way it's given, from a perfectionistic 91 year old) it would be about the food. Not the variety he is used to and not always cooked to his tastes. But if that's the only thing wrong . . . . Highgate is also VERY pet-friendly . . . so much so that they have adopted, my parent's 5th child, Brandee as the facility mascot. She is the sole reason my Dad gets up each day, riding with him in the van as people are taken to Dr appointments and shopping. On one occasion, the activities director even took charge of Brandee when Dad had an emergency trip to the VA. If you are looking into elder care communities, you most certainly can not go wrong by choosing Highgate Senior Living in Prescott. ~ daughter of a couple of happy residents

I am/was a resident of this facility

This was an excellent choice I made for my Dad. They know each resident by name and go out of their way to include them in extra activities. The care he receives is top notch. The only complaint I have is with the food service. Service is slow, the variety could be better.

I give this facility a 4 star. The caring and loving environment you won't find anywhere else. We looked at several places before choosing Highgate, and the holistic approach with the amazing dimentia unit is amazing.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I was able to visit Highgate Senior Living, and it's a beautiful facility -- almost like a resort. It was very well appointed, and the staff there is very friendly and gracious. They were absolutely wonderful, but it's expensive. My sister went in there for a month, but her husband can't afford to put her there for a long time. My sister loves this facility. Many of the staff members knew her by name and spoke to her. She was very much well-cared for while she was there. The dining area was open to their guests too. I saw the menu, and it was incredible, but I didn’t get to taste the food. My sister loves the food, and I consider that to be really good. They have different activities that they can all do. They have bingo and card games. They have a special theater area, and it almost looks like a movie theatre. I was really impressed, and I haven’t seen a facility as elaborate as this.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Why I appreciate Highgate of Prescott Lakes Following my father's discharge from a geriatric hospital unit, I was faced with the painful reality of his level of care being beyond my physical capabilities. After looking at over 20 different assisted living homes and facilities in a 50 mile radius, I was pleased to learn of Highgate Senior Living. Having previoulsly ministered in over a dozen assisted living communities and nursing homes for 9 years, I was well aware of the dark, depressing, and hospital-like environments for which most dementia or memory care units are renowned. The Cottages at Highgate, however, is a departure from the norm and has a light and airy feel that is a refreshing and even charming setting. Moreover, while touring there I was both surprised and delighted to walk into the activity area, where many of the residents with more advanced brain disease, were happily engaged in playing community games and crafts. But the area in which I was most impressed with Highgate's approach to care, was when I asked the staff RN if the facility's attending doctor could be contacted to lower the dosage of my father's antipsychotic drug. She said, "Sure!" And low and behold, after the doctor's approval, within 48 hours there was significant improvement in my father's physical health and mental behaviors. He went into Highgate in a wheelchair, needing help with every area of his daily life, i.e.; getting out of a chair, walking, feeding, dressing, bathing, etc. But a little over a month later, my father is home with me and is now walking without any supporting aids, talking, self-feeding, and although he still needs daily assistance in several areas, Highgate's willingness to work with the family relative to a more modest approach to dispensing medications was the first encounter with an organization I've had, that takes a conservative approach to medicating the elderly. Every other medical care setting in which my father had previously been, their goal was to "keep the patient in a wheelchair", which [sadly] is more readily accomplished by overdrugging. Not at Highgate. They seek to help keep active, this fragile, kind, and often helpless population that comprises the great generation of this country's past. I can't promise you the kind of improvement my father experienced while at Highgate, but in many areas of ammenities and care, Highgate does stand above the rest. Most likely, as my 91 year-old father's disease process advances, I will again, have to put him into the care of professionals. However in the meantime, because of Highgate's holistic approach to care, I have the privilege of personally caring for my dad a little while longer. R.I.C. Verde Valley, Arizona

I visited this facility

We visited the Highgate Senior Living facility while searching for a place for our parents to live in the Prescott area. The facility looked like it could accommodate all levels of ambulation. The grounds outside offered easy access for residents, where they can enjoy walking around freely safely each day. We could also see that there is also plenty of space to have cookouts, parties and picnics. The foyer was fresh and bright with very nice decorations and furniture. All of the indoor rooms had plenty of fresh air and light. Each room was beautifully decorated and furnished. The colors throughout the building were soothing and comfortable. Communal activity rooms were spacious, with comfortable furniture. The seniors can easily socialize, make crafts, play games, watch TV and films and participate in many stimulating activities. Residents could also tend the garden. The private rooms featured plenty of space in nicely decorated surroundings. Each had a great deal of natural light and fresh air with very comfortable and beautiful furniture. The dining areas were well lit with natural light and spacious, yet still homey with a cheery decor. The food we saw looked and smelled appetizing. All menus had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever requested. Seniors are encouraged to use the equipment and take classes in the exercise room or go on daily walks. The residents go on many day trips to visit the many Arizona cultural destinations such as art galleries and museums. They also enjoy local eateries at casual and fine restaurants in and around the region. The residents looked very well cared for and content in their living environment, with many kind and considerate staff.
