My sister had an illness and stroke. She needed to heal and we found great support and encouragement from the staff of Country Care. Not only did they help her with recovery, they also celebrated her progress. We made friends there and are extremely grateful for everyone at Country Care.

My disabled brother lives(d) here. Recently taken to the emergency room & refused to pick him up, saying he was evicted. I don’t live in the area so not able to pick him up. I made it to the emergency room the next day & was told the home picked him after being told they couldn’t evict him. I filed a complaint against the home.

Only reason they get 1 star is so I can write this review. Otherwise NO STAR! I recently moved both of my parents from Ohio to Cottonwood. We were told that Country Care Assisted Living home accepted residents with dementia and memory care needs, and that residents could not get out, as it was secure in the front and back. My mom got out and wandered down the road on the first day. She also got out a second time and it took me 30 minutes to find her. I was called daily to come to the home to settle her down, as they were unable to handle her. There is 1 caregiver in each of 3 homes. This caregiver, at that time, does the cleaning, laundry, and preparing meals, all while caring for 8-10 residents. No assessment was done prior to admitting my mom and dad into the home. The second time my mom got out, I picked her up along the road, after a homeowner saw her walking about, cold, crying, and in great distress. She was so scared and my heart broke for her. I did not take her back to that home. I called her Dr. who strongly suggested her going to another home. That the home she was in was not secure enough. I fortunately was able to move her immediately. She was in the first home 8 days. My dad had paid for both of them for a month. I have requested a refund on mom's part, due to the fact that they, along with the Dr. determined they could not provide appropriate care. I was told "no refunds". I understand the 30 day notice policy, but it was not our intention or desire to have to move her. Besides that, as I mentioned no assessment or evaluation was made on either of my parents prior to, or within the time of their acceptance. There are other complaints, such as not following CDC guidelines. Anyone can walk in and about. Residents and caregivers DO NOT wear masks. The no climb fence that was down when we moved my mom in, the one she easily stepped over, is still down. I was even asked by one of the caretakers to come to the kitchen to see if the chicken she was baking was done. Dad said the caregivers were so loud in the kitchen and could hear them constantly talking about each other and using foul language. It has put a lot of stress upon my family, having to move them both twice within a 3 week period. They are both in homes, with proper care. Mom has done very well in her new home. Dad is in a separate home, but very near her. Please be advised to fully inspect this home and the care they actually do provide. I would not recommend to anyone! Tamara Jarvis

I wouldn't recommend Country Care in Cottonwood. That place is a bunch of little cottages. When you walk in there's no recreation and no interactions, they're just there sitting and watching TV. It's very isolated. I guess for somebody who doesn't have a lot of money it would be OK, but there's no type of interaction, like outside people coming in to do things. The care seems OK, and the staff was fine, but the rest of it was not. One of the rooms smelled like urine, and they're very small. Even my bathroom is bigger than their rooms. They said their outside gate is locked, but it's not even a gate. It's like a porch, so if you have a high-functioning resident they can easily climb up it.

The 10 months I have lived at Country Care, the prospective has changed from good to excellent. The sense of humor from the caregivers, owners and residents take the "sting" out of life's difficulties. Often laughter erupts all around. We have Halloween parties and Christmas parties, a hairdresser, church services, a singer with a guitar, piano player and mini horses to feed and pet at different times. They keep us entertained if we choose, or let us decline the entertainment. It's more like a country home.

Country Care is a great assisted living home. It has a homelike atmosphere. The caregivers are very attentive to Mom and truly have a heart for all of the residents. They serve delicious meals! I am delighted that they have regular holiday celebrations and events for the residents and their families to enjoy.

After interviewing 3 assisted living home, it became apparent that I did not know what requirements we would need for our 98-year old mother. I finally discovered Caring.com and they were able to set desirable guidelines, recommendations and locations of homes in our area. We were then able to ask the 15 questions we felt were most important and after interviewing 11 establishments we chose Country Care in Cottonwood, AZ. The care she received from Country Care was so kind and loving. Her stay was individualized, she was treated with respect, and she remained safe. Mother seemed quite content with her new home. Please take this as a positive recommendation for both Country Care and Caring.com.

My mother passed in January of this year and I needed to find a place for Dad, as needed some assistance for his daily life, that, due to health problems of his own, I am not able to provide. I found several referral agencies on line and reached out to them for help in finding him a place. I was doing this all long distance, as I was in West Virginia taking care of Dad, and wanted to bring to Arizona to be closed to myself and my wife, as he has no other living relatives other than possibly a long-lost cousin or two. Caring.com provided the referral to Country Care and I found both Mike and Lou to be very personable, knowledgeable and eager to help. My wife was able to go to Cottonwood for a tour as we live close. She was favorably impressed so we decided to move Dad in. At least if this home was not the right fit, we would have Dad in Arizona so finding another place would be easier to do. In the six months that Dad has been there, we have found that we do, in fact, have a very good fit for him. I am retired, so can go see Dad several times each week, and have never had any indication of anything but him getting excellent care. In fact, his only complaint is that they feed him too much. This is funny coming from him because he is such a picky eater, but they seem able to adjust to things like this much better than bigger, institutional places would be able to do. In short, we are very happy with the choice we made, and it helps that the cost is competitive with other facilities that we looked at.

Just wanted to let anyone interested that I lived across the street from this facility for 5 years and seen numerous times that the fire truck/ambulance was there. This tells me that the staff doesn't hesitate to call 911 when an emergency arises. I am pretty sure that if someone fell they would call as sometimes the truck was not there long. Hope that this helps someone.

Country Care Assisted Living wasn't a good fit for my mom for her social and other needs. In general, I wouldn't choose it for my mom. It's set up like a house, with 4 or 5 bedrooms and a kitchen, and they live like they're in a home which would suit some other people's needs I'm sure, but my mom needs more structure than that.

Country Care does not have rooms for mom, but it was very homey. It’s in a house rather than an institutional building. It was clean. They had private room instead of shared rooms. The rooms were well-maintained, clean, and spacious.

My mother is with Country Care for 3 years now. They made everyone feel like the place was their own home. The staff is terrific. They’re so gentle and caring. I can’t say enough good things about them. My mother got a fine room. It wasn’t a large room. The advantage of that is you’re really encouraged to come out to socialize. She has bathroom that she shares to the room next to hers. The residents would usually watch television together. They have a big front porch where my mom loves to hang out on the swing for hours. Because of her health issues, she’s unable to go on outings with the group. They had a woman named Marianne who comes and hang out with the residents. She would color my mom’s hair, paint her nails, play catch or take a walk. They were good about having school children come in on holidays and do a presentation. They also have holiday parties for everyone including the families. I shared meals with them. They were always gracious in inviting me when I’m there at meal time. The food is great. It’s good old home cooking type of food. It’s nothing fancy but they’re nutritious and it’s food that they wanted to it. They pay attention to what the residents are interested in having.

Our experience with Country Care has been amazing. The rooms and apartments were adequate. My mother likes to watch TV with the other residents. She has dementia. They have ball practice every week. The staff is excellent and I love them all. The food is great. They do a great job in making good meals.

My mom has been with Country Care for less than a year, and she’s very satisfied there. I chose Country Care because the owners were very friendly and willing to discuss anything that I asked. My mom is in a semi-private room. The meals are very nutritious, and she is maintaining her weight. They have some activities for those who are able to do them.
