"This is senior housing, subsidized for those who qualify. It's a massive place that takes up several blocks"”in a gorgeous location, just behind the Potomac River. It is close to the new baseball stadium and near the waterfront, so there are lots of places nearby for eating and entertainment. It's also easily accessible by train. There is a beautifully manicured lawn, and many apartments have great views of the city. The whole place has a nice feeling"”built in the 70s. Instead of seeing walls, you see windows, so the design helps make it seem like a happier place"”and hip. There are white floors and high white ceilings, which gives it a modern, a clean look. Parking is challenging; there is no lot, so visitors have to parallel park on a one-way street. It is extremely secure--monitored with a call-in and sign-in system for those who enter. It's also very well maintained. The place inside is very pleasing to the eye, because it has lots of glass and big windows that look out on landscaping. It feels spread out, never crowded. All apartments are private"”nice, moderate size, with appliances that are not new but kept very nicely. Some group activities are offered, mostly organized by the residents, most of whom seem very active; there is no communal dining. All residents are responsible for covering and paying for their own care needs. "

"My brother-in-law went to Crescent Ridge. The staff was very good. Everything was good at Crescent Ridge, and the only reason I pulled him from there was that they didn't have transportation to come to my area to pick him up in the morning and to bring him back in the evening. That's the only reason I really took him away from there. The rooms were clean and neat. The bathroom and the dining area were clean and neat. Food was good, but it was catered. It was almost like a Meals-on-Wheel type food that they brought in, but they did the breakfast there themselves. The lunch and the dinner were brought in. With regards to activities, they had dance, music, TV, exercise, and they would go on little trips. As for the management, they did everything very well. There was no problem with scheduling or billing. Everything was good. "

"I was favorably impressed on my admittedly short visit. My husband liked it too. I like the multicultural aspect. My husband gobbled down the Korean food, and I assured him he will like the Iranian food and Spanish food too. We were greeted personally and warmly by the director, the nurse, the social worker, the cook, and at least two other lovely people whose titles I forget. My husband was assured that he may bring his own weights to lift (he said the ones there are too light for him), and he is game to take a yoga class. I promised him a new bathing suit for swimming days. I left after about an hour, and he stayed for another hour. They brought him home. He told me about the shopping trips they told him about. There is indeed one large room, and there are actually several smaller rooms around the perimeter. There is also a walking path, marked off with tape, and I was told the attendees are encouraged to walk around the room, during an organized walk. The nurse is on-site every day, and the social worker is there 3 days/week, I think she said. We will give this a try. I am optimistic that this place will be a good fit. "

"My husband and I visited three adult day programs in our area. My husband liked this one best. We found it was quieter and less busy. This was easier for him to deal with and he did not feel so overwhelmed or confused by his alzheimer's disease there. I appreciated the longer hours available, from 8am to 5pm, if I needed them. There is also a support group that meets in the same building on two different days that I have found helpful. Finally the staff has been very good at helping my husband to adjust to the program and working with me to get him to attend. I appreciate their flexibility in allowing us to adapt the program to fit our family. "

"I was finally able to find a place for my Mother to go to. I got her into an Assisted Living Facility just 2 weeks ago. I ended up choosing Leewood for her in Annandale, Virginia. They had exactly what I needed. They got accommodation assisted living and transition to nursing home as well. What really stood out to me is that they offer a subsidized badge. Since she doesn't have a lot of money, they got her into a spend down program and she will be able to go on Medicaid after her money runs out. I really like the place. Again, they had exactly what it is I was looking for for my Mom. I didn't wanna have to put her somewhere else and if she need to be transitioned to a nursing home, I don't have to start the process all over again. From their accommodations, to their environment, to food, to their rooms, I got nothing to say but good things to them. I am totally impressed with the place. "

"I visited Winter Growth. There are about 15 small bedrooms, decorated by the resident, for assisted living residents. The individual bathrooms are shared - access is from the hall, except there is one pair of bathrooms near the entrance that can accommodate several people at a time. They have a big adult day program - about 40 - 50 people, split into two groups in the morning and smaller groups in the afternoon, participate. They also offer short or long-term respite care. Before admission to any program, a doctor's form must be filled out + a TB test (or chest x-ray), and the person who will participate must come for a preview day. The staff I have talked with are informative, helpful and caring. "

"There are not enough words for me to express how amazing Winter Growth Assisted Living Facility is, and how much they have blessed my family! My sister had a severe stroke in 2012, and I became her legal guardian at that time. By 2018, she was able to be moved to assisted living, which was quite a task for me to undertake because I didn't even know where to start. I live in Howard County, so I wanted my sister to be closer to me, and everyone that I spoke with mentioned how I should apply to Winter Growth because it was such a wonderful facility. They were not kidding! I called one day, had a tour the following day, and was already submitting the application shortly after. I was so impressed with Winter Growth's layout, staff, care given to the residents, etc. I knew that day this was the place for my sister, and seeing the dogs and cats in the facility just sealed it for me as we are animal lovers! Winter Growth just felt like "home". Sure it's not flashy and doesn't have all the latest technology or renovations, but how many of us can say that for our own homes? For me and my family, home is a place where it is warm, cozy and comfortable, and Winter Growth has all those boxes checked. We were very fortunate to have my sister accepted as a resident, and she has been very happy living there. She has her own room and privacy, but also has support at any time, should she need it. She enjoys the food and the company of other residents and staff. They have become her family as well. As with all of us in life, there are days that may not go so well, but the staff at Winter Growth will work with my sister and include me, so that all of us are on the same page. We always come to resolutions that benefit everyone. I know from personal experience that Winter Growth always looks out for the residents best interest, and treats them with respect and dignity, which I appreciate so much. Winter Growth always plans special events for the residents with their family's like Christmas dinners, Valentine's gatherings, or any other special occasion that comes up. My family, including my 2 children, always enjoy visiting because it's such a homey and welcoming environment. My sister also has many visits from other friends and family, and each one of them has told me that she is in an amazing facility! From March 2020 to the present, things have been tough with the pandemic, but we have made the best of it by speaking via FaceTime daily, dropping off items, having things shipped to her, etc. Winter Growth took the care and safety of their residents very seriously, and still do, and thankfully my sister has been healthy throughout everything. In a time of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear, I have had constant peace of mind knowing that my sister is receiving the best care at Winter Growth, where she is safe, healthy, and happy! I couldn't have asked for a better facility for my sister to live. We are so thankful for all they do by providing wonderful care and accommodations for their special residents. Winter Growth has been such a blessing to my family!"

"We chose to have my mother in Caritas House Assisted Living because she is a devout Catholic and they have all the services and support that she wants and needs. The staff is friendly, accommodating, informed, helpful, and thorough. She has a 320-square-foot room on a corner with two big windows, high ceilings, and a large bathroom. It's very nice. The food is fine. There's a variety offered every day and it's good. They also have snacks available pretty much throughout the day whenever she wants them. There are classes, programs, gatherings, and social events every day of the week except for the weekend. There is a virtual mass offered every day, as well as an in-person mass offered on Sundays. There's a large garden terrace area, large common areas with game tables, small libraries on each floor, and large televisions on each floor."

"I was worked w/them through an agency. Over all the care is wonderful , inter-generation environment , they have different activities & recreation for the patients. How ever they had visitors in the NEW building on Windsor blvd , & they knew they was coming and they would be strapped for help , they called the agency & said they had an available shift open for Tuesday & Thursday 9-4:30 , iWent there & Lynette told me she had visitors and that they would be leaving at 12pm. I was working my but off until irealized the visitors was gone & Lynette came over to me and told that I can go home & when I looked at the time & it was only 12:30pm , so they used the agency to cover up the fact that they don't have enough help for all of those people , & used me just for 3.5 hours when they told the agency it was a minimum of 4 hours at least. So from what I've seen they are strapped for help and do a lot of covering up . the care is great but the way the handle business is not appropriate "
