If your loved one suddenly deteriorates and experiences pain and nausea on a weekend then it might take up to seven hours to get the medications to provide relief. I know that the norm is 30 minutes to one hour at the most for other hospice providers. When I shared my concerns with the nurse the next day she shrugged and said that it was the weekend and after hours. I was insulted because this was during daylight hours albeit a Saturday. The medication arrived around 7pm. Your loved should not experience this level of care. My loved one suffered for a lot longer than sh should have. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have called her primary physician to get prescriptions to be filled at any pharmacy. It would have been much faster. She would have suffered less. I will also report this incident to the DHS.
