I am not physically there, but if there is a gap in the schedule and I call the agency, they fill it, but I worry that the caregivers are not doing what they are supposed to do. They need to improve on the caregivers they send to take care of my father, because a lot of times they don't speak English. We have cameras in the house and occasionally things have happened where I have not seen the caregivers come into the room for six hours. My father is paralyzed and needs to be turned every 2 hours. That could be fatal.

It is difficult for me to have a caregiver in the house because I really should be going somewhere else to do the work I have to do. It is good in the fact that I have 4 hours during the week. In reality, I am here and my loved one is here, so I am still hooked in. That is not their problem, it is mine. They should lock me out of the house when they are here and make me go away. I would like better communication about getting information when things need to change. A couple of times I have sent emails about things. I need to change or need to have done better. They are not followed up on.

It helps a lot. Communication through checking up and checking in is good. We've contacted Sherri to make some changes. I like the people we're working with. It would be a more proactive role in how to give the best care for the patient on a day-to-day basis. We're having to look at the situation and ask if this can be done, there's a lot of sitting around.

My parents can't be left alone anymore, so in order to get out of the house on the weekend to do things that I need to do, the services are helpful. There was a caregiver who didn't work out, so the agency sent us another caregiver who was a much better fit because of her personality.

It's hard for me to even get dressed and I have a brace I have to put on my leg so she helps me do that. I had a stroke and my left arm and leg don't work so it is difficult for me to do anything, and I look forward to the lady that helps me, Emily. She comes three days a week.

It is very expensive for whatever reason. For me it's just the two of us. It gives me freedom for a couple hours a day and they make sure that he doesn't fall.

They are very skilled in what they do, and they are a lot of fun to be with. I really needed the caregivers help, so its hard to answer. They know what they are doing when they come in, and they check everything out. They get everything ready to use, which makes it a much better experience than I ever thought it was going to be.

I guess they could have repeat visits. When I only met someone one time, I can't recommend them, but when they send someone two or three times, I can say that I'd recommend them. They work with me with exercise and walking and cooking and minor housekeeping. It allows me to be more independent. After they work with me, I can work on things on my own.

They could give the caregivers a week of training dealing with people with difficult situations, both physical and mental. They could be more aware of the situation.

They could work on the consistency, so that every week I didn't have to train someone new. It's the third week and still no consistency. I don't live in the same house as my father, and had to sit there to see what was going on in the kitchen and explain things to the nurse like where the pots and pans are. In terms of someone being there, that is not helpful because I can't be there, but if I don't have confidence in someone being there how are they going to take care of him?

We have a lot of skilled nurses! One of the caregivers went with the client to the hospital for several hours while they had a procedure done. They spend time with our residents and give personal one-on-one time, which really helps.

Home Care Assistance has some good things, and some things are bad. Home Care Assistance seems to send pretty good caregivers over, but they make me keep that person for four hours when I don't need them that long. If they can't get everything done in one day, I am stuck with a whole other day. They spend a lot of time twiddling their thumbs all day. I needed them to drive, mostly, but not anymore. Some do some cooking and cleaning and I don't need them as much anymore. I like the girl; I like to see her and talk with her.

Home Care Assistance comes a couple days a week and picks up the client from the senior day care. Once a year or so, they have to stay overnight and this hasn't worked in the past. The client will need more hours and overnight care pretty soon and I don't know how well Home Care Assistance can do that because of what's happened in the past.
