I visited this facility

Brookdale Sun Prairie only offered memory care. I thought that they offered good information, provided an opportunity to follow up by sending me an email afterward, and a willingness to answer current and future questions. It was pretty small and intimate, but the staff seemed to know each resident. The person giving us the tour was pleasant and offered lots of good information. The negative side of it for me was it seemed like a dated facility, and the population that they were currently serving all seemed more advanced in their dementia journey. It didn't have any onsite rehab services. They all would be brought in if needed. With the folks that we observed, I didn't think that my father would have many opportunities to strike up communication with anyone and maybe some of the activities would not be as appropriate for him at his level as would be for someone more advanced. The rooms were fairly small and none of them had showers within the individual room. There was one shower room that would be for all residents to use. The layout was OK with the community spaces in the middle and then the individual rooms kind of off on the wings. Because it was smaller, there wasn't a whole lot of room, as if somebody wanted to be walking around. There was only one kind of living area/common area where people could comingle. The rooms were all studios.

I visited this facility

The staff at Brookdale Sun Prairie was very thorough. Anthony was just on top of his game. He knows a lot about everything that goes on there. He's a really good representative. I sat down and ate with the residents. I had a mask on, but you could smell the food and it smelled amazing. I was head over heels with that part of the tour. Everything was fine. Everything was in order. It just was a good fit. Anthony was there to answer any questions. He took the time, and he wasn't rushed in any way. He just made very good use of his time and my time.

I visited this facility

We went to Brookdale Sun Prairie. It was a very nice place. It was very homey. It was all on one level and it was just very, very comfortable looking. The rooms were very nice. The staff was busy all the time. The kitchen was in the middle, they had the dining areas on both sides, and they didn't have too much of an area for activities. It was pretty much conducted in either the dining areas or in the common areas where they did their exercises and so forth. It was quite, quite small, but it was nice. They were all one-bedrooms with just a half bath. Their shower facility was a community shower where there was just a shower, and a room with a therapeutic tub so that people would have to take their showers in a separate room other than their own units. So each unit did not have their own individual shower. I was kind of surprised to see that, but they say it worked very well.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We chose Brookdale Sun Prairie for my uncle and his sister because it was the locale. It was very close to their house. When I walked through the place, I was quite impressed with the operation and cleanliness. Everything seems to be going very, very well at this point, but they're only three weeks into it. The staff is all very friendly, and very good too. Everything looks very clean and smells good. The place is only half a block from their house.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I love Brookdale! We wanted to move my mother-in-law closer to us, so Randall helped us to make the arrangements between the other nursing home and this memory care. We planned to have the necessary extra helpers, we needed during Covid due to quarantine, and the transfer went very smooth. My mother-in-law's never been happier. I love that it's a smaller place and they show great care and attention. I love that my mother-in-law has her own room. I love that they have a community room, where she can do things together as a group. Staff helpers are really attentive, helpful and Loving. They all do a great job. It's a very caring and loving environment.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am very pleased and excited about having my mother at Brookdale in Sun Prairie. This place was recommended by a friend that had a family member there. She could not say enough good things about how pleased they were with the care that she received. My mother was transferred from the hospital to Brookdale in Sun Prairie. The director, administrator and staff, made this a very smooth transition for my mom. Because of the virus, the CDC required that my mom be quarantine for 14 days. During that time, I was able to stay with my mom. I was able to see how the staff interacted with her. My mother has dementia, and the staff was fantastic with her. Anyone who has a loved one with Alzhemer's or dementia, knows how hard it is. You have to have a lot of patience. I seen a lot of patience and compassion from the staff. The cooks also interact with residents while serving great food. Watching the staff, they seem to enjoy working with the residents. I also talked with the head of activities, she showed me projects that they encourage the residents to participate in. I can not say enough good things about this place. I now can rest at night knowing my mother is in a safe, clean and caring place.

I visited this facility

Sterling House of Sun Prairie was one of the assisted living facilities we visited while in Wisconsin looking at facilities for our uncle. The exterior looked lovely, resembling a colonial estate. The tree-lined walkways were peaceful and easy to navigate the grounds were beautifully landscaped. We liked the picnic areas. The residents may also safely navigate the lovely grounds for exercise. We noticed that the staff was kind and caring to all of the residents that -- of varied capability and ambulation. It was clear that all of the residents' needs are met here. The decor of the entire facility was fresh with nice colors and sunlight. nice. There were ample communal rooms including a library and the ability to participate in a number of stimulating activities. The living spaces were spacious with nice, bright colors, light and fresh air. The fitness room included daily yoga and aerobics exercise classes. The equipment is available throughout the day and they also offer personal instruction. Residents also enjoy the lovely garden pathways and courtyards. The dining room was well designed with nice furnishings. The menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. The food looked and smelled delicious. Healthy snacks are offered all day and whenever requested. The planned activities feature everything from exercise classes to book readings, arts and crafts and hosted events. The residents are also taken to interesting cultural events in Sun Prairie and surrounding areas -- which hosts festivals and social gatherings regularly. The staff was exceptionally nice -- and we could see how any senior would enjoy this living environment.
