Our staff is required to take continued education credits, either through software Heritage offers or through an outside company that can come into our community and teach a class that offers credits. They are also educated and quizzed by the Director of Nursing (DON) weekly on different topics specific to the Resident needs we assist with.
How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
It depends on Resident occupancy, but we have care staff on the floor 24/7.

5 - 6 activities are conducted per day, which includes exercise, trivia, card games and crafts. Depending on the weather, some activities are hosted in our outdoor courtyard. We also have special theme days where all staff members and Residents are encouraged to participate in. In the evenings, our care staff engage the Residents by having a karaoke sing off or a movie night with popcorn, candy and drinks.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Our Director of Nursing (DON) assess Residents' health and cognitive functioning on a day to day basis. An initial assessment is preformed by the DON pre-admission, then after 30 days of the Resident being at our community. After this, assessments are preformed every 6 months, or if a drastic chance has occurred to the Residents health and safety. We also offer families to sign their loved one up with our in-house physician services through Blue Stone Physician Group.
What techniques does Heritage Court Waukesha use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
We can accommodate many different dietary needs. The 3 meals per day offered can be cut into bite-sized portions before served, and puree or mechanically soft formed, if needed. For those Residents who need help being fed, our caregivers take the time to sit and feed anyone who needs assistance.

The person appointed to Health Care Power of Attorney (POAHC) to the Resident is informed immediately by phone call from the Director of Nursing (DON) of any changes to health functionality, cognitive functionality and/or safety.
