"We went to look here, and it was beautiful inside. It was close to the capital drive, so I was concerned about the noise and stuff, but I didn't hear anything inside. They have different levels of care. Everything was so well done and pretty. It looks like a nice place to be. They have a washer and dryer. The staff who gave us a tour was very nice and showed us every option. The facility was super clean. The dining room was very nice."

"I think my tour of Brookdale Sussex went very well. It seemed like a very comfortable place. They talked a lot about the dining area and the food. They were very gracious, and they showed me a lot of things. But I don't think it's the right place for me. The billing that they had does not work for me. I have long-term care insurance, but they put the bill very high for the room versus the nursing care. So if the long-term insurance only pays for the nursing care, it's a much larger out-of-pocket cost to me, so that's why it would not work for me. The room was very basic, which is also something with assisted living. I would look for something a little bit more apartment-style. If I'm having days where I'm able to do more, I want to be able to be as independent as I can and do as much as I can, and maybe even a little bit of my own cooking and things like that."

"I went to look at Oak Hill Terrace Senior Living. I like the place. The price was right. I'm from Waukesha, so I know the area. The staff members were very helpful. I enjoyed talking with them. I looked at one- and two-bedroom apartments. They had furniture in them. I liked the floor plans. It was nice and very roomy. They showed me most of the different places that you can use, like the cafeteria and other rooms. They had a courtyard, a library, and game rooms."

"We visited the Brookdale Brookfield Woelfel Road's memory care, and they seem very good. It's just that it's a much bigger facility, and we are looking for the individual care that we're going to get in a smaller group setting. That was the only thing. Otherwise, my wife and I were very interested in staying there. The rooms we saw were adequate. They're not there for entertaining people, so they're not big. Parts of the facility are a little bit older, but they're redoing a lot of things right now, so in the next couple of months, some areas are going to be refurbished. Other than that, it's very clean and neat. The dining area was very nice, attractive, and clean as expected. The parking is all outdoor parking, but it's fine. They don't have much staff turnover, so there are people who have been there for quite a few years, which says a lot about the place."

"My aunt stayed at Discovery Commons Brookfield, which was very nice but pricey. The people who worked there were wonderful. The facility was new and clean. It was state of the art, but parking was also a problem there. The rooms were smaller than the ones I looked at for my mom, but they were very nice. They did have very nice walk-in showers with a seat hanging from the wall, which was very nice so my aunt could be independent in showering herself. I ate lunch with my aunt, and the food was very good."

"I met with Peg at The Arboretum Senior Living, and she was very accommodating. She was caught a little off-guard and didn't realize she had a busy schedule, but she took all the time that she needed. I was greeted very warmly. It was a great tour. I got to experience the place, saw the people and how they interacted with one another. She showed me a couple of different rooms, talked about their services, and explained how, after a few years that they can switch over to some Medicare payment. It was very informative. She was excellent. The apartment has a smaller kitchen. It's not like a full-sized stove. It has a smaller refrigerator, but no microwave. It's OK, but maybe if it was for independent living with two people, you might want to see a full-sized kitchen. There was a larger-sized apartment, and I didn't get to experience that one. Other than that, they're on a remodeling schedule. They had an apartment that was getting scheduled to be remodeled. The place was very clean and very welcoming. When you walked in, they had a big open area with a fireplace, and I saw a lot of residents interacting with one another. They were just finishing lunch and getting ready for bingo. You could see that they were very happy there."

"We are choosing Ellen's Home of Germantown South for my husband because it seemed like a good fit for him. It was more sparsely populated and there was more room for him since people weren't right on top of each other. The place was very neat and the rooms were nice-sized. They had a bird aviary there, which was very interesting. It just looked like things were under control. No locks on the door, which was something different but necessary for some. The staff was very helpful and informative. Overall, it was a very good tour experience. It just felt right."
