Parkside Senior Living is a small facility which fosters a homelike family atmosphere. The caregivers are hardworking, friendly and loving. In our search for a good facility our greatest concern was that medications would be administered proficiently and correctly. From the first day of admission there were almost daily problems with her medications. Within the first month she received another resident’s medication. The resident nor her family were informed that she got the wrong medication. When I questioned the evening med tech about the incident she didn’t even know that it had occurred that morning. Total confusion and lack of communication regarding prescription ordering. Inefficient ordering of refills to the point where some ran out. The family and the resident met with the administrator to voice our concerns. We were completely ignored. We were mostly happy with the other aspects Parkside Senior Living offered but the inefficiency to manage medications for the residents should be a deal breaker for anyone looking to trust a facility to properly care for their loved one.

Brookdale Neenah (Formerly Sterling House of Neenah) was really small, and I wasn't impressed with it at all. It wasn't nicely decorated, and it just looked old. The staff was very nice, though. The room had a single bed and a dresser, almost like a rehabilitation or nursing home atmosphere versus assisted living. The dining room was an open room where they did crafts and would eat there. There wasn't really anything special. Everybody seemed friendly and would get along. It's really small, so there are not many occupants nor staff there.

I came across Sterling House from the Caring website. It was a small house, and they have a maximum of 20 people. It was a small, tight knit community, and the personal service is really nice. The food is home cooked right there. The rooms are nice and not as big as my mom was used to, but their whole philosophy is that it’s a bedroom and they want the people to be out. They have a nice living room, a nice dining room, and a den. They have an open area porch in between the two wings with bushes and trees. It’s a very nice, homey situation, and we’re really happy with it. They have Bingo, and they play cards and show movies in the living room. I suggest activities on the weekends.

I want a bigger facility because the person I was looking for is very social. I would rather have a larger community for him. This community is not very large. I remember the open area where they were doing the exercises. I thought it was too expensive, and I didn't like it. It does not have too many people there. They just seem kind of small for me. I'm thinking that if he were in a larger community, maybe he will be more social. I was not able to try the food, but I did meet some people in the kitchen, and they seem nice.

The rooms at Sterling House of Neenah are basically just a bedroom. The main living area is shared by all. It is clean. My mother seems to enjoy herself at this community. They do have activities. My mom is somewhat withdrawn from the activities, although she likes the staff coming in. She is a story-teller, so she loves the staff coming in and she is able to share stories. The dining area is nice. I think they could improve on food quality though. Also they need a little bit more variety and possibly slightly larger portions. My only complaints right now is that they got something in our account marked as past due and it is actually that they are not showing some of the discounts that we are supposed to have. Other than that, it is a small community which means more personal one-on-one care and that's what we like about it.

We liked Sterling House because it was a small community, not a whole lot of people. I think it would be nice if my mom eventually did go into assisted living. The dining area was nice. We were very impressed. The staff was very polite. They explained all the questions that we had and gave us some information that we needed.

The Sterling House of Neenah resembled a quaint, yet large colonial style home, rather than a place where the elderly live. We really liked this. We decided to stop in while in the region for another reason, as we had been actively researching places for our uncle to live. The grounds were nicely landscaped, with many nice and accessible tree-lined walkways and seating areas for residents to enjoy. We could see that this facility can accommodate a variety of ambulation levels as a resident's needs change. Care can easily be shifted to each person's requirements at any time. The main living rooms was lovely and featured a nice decor and many pieces of beautiful and comfortable furniture. Residents may enjoy the library, card games, physical exercise, crafting and hosted gatherings. The fitness center was impressive, with regular exercise classes, and access to assistance to use the equipment. The living spaces were quite nice, with lovely bedrooms that had plenty of light and fresh air. The food menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The dining room was quite nice, with plenty of space. The food all looked and smelled delicious. The residents are taken on many fun excursions to enjoy for both physical activity and mental stimulation, such as cultural events in Neenah and the surrounding region. This is a really well-designed living environment for seniors that includes everything they need. We were impressed with the level of care and the contentedness of the seniors we saw.
