"Sancerre Atlee Station is brand new. It's within three miles from our daughter's home and also about three miles from a local medical facility hospital in the area. We liked the apartments that were available. We liked the size, what they looked like, and all that. The staff was very informative and answered our questions. The facility was very clean."

"My mother was here. It’s small, two floors, very nicely appointed, and a lot of the downstairs rooms opened to a beautiful courtyard. They were attentive, thorough, and did a good job. It was called the deluxe studio, which was just one room, and it was nice and small but had a kitchenette with a little refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink. The food was good. There’s a chef that’s been there for nine years who is very good, so there was a choice of menu items at each meal, and the food was hot, attractively presented, and tasty."

"My mother has been at Sunrise since May. It is a single level; she has a 2-room apartment that she absolutely loves. They are very nice here; they take good care of her. She has laundry service and maid service. She has 3 meals a day. She has her own refrigerator and a little kitchenette with a microwave, and she’s very happy. "

"Bickford is brand new and in a very nice setting. I felt the memory care unit was not active enough for my mother. They allowed and encouraged pets; if you wanted a pet, they would help take care of it. I really liked Bickford, but it didn't feel that homey. The staff seemed pleasant enough and seemed to know what they were doing. It had two different parts: assisted and memory center. They had other activities in the memory center, but I went there two or three times, and every time they were just having kind of discussion in the central area. That would've driven my mom off the wall. I didn't taste the food, but the menu looked good. The dining area looked nice. This is my number 2 spot. They were really good. I liked it a lot."

"Sunrise at Bon Air actually had a very cozy setting. It reminded me of a mountain lodge. My friend, her daughter, and I just really loved the atmosphere and everything. The staff was also excellent. They were very friendly and willing to help. Ruthie was the one that we interviewed with, and she was so personable. The semi-private rooms were quite adequately spaced, and we were impressed with it, because they had a partial partition in the center, so that it allowed some privacy too. The bathrooms and everything were easily accessible. They have people coming in that do activities with the residents. They have games, arts and crafts, music, and they vary things from time to time. They have a very active calendar of events. It would be a really nice home away from home type of setting. I loved the lobby area where all of them met, and it had a beautiful stoned fireplace that was extended through the room."

"Mom is in the memory care area of Morningside of Bellgrade. They have a staff that is educated, friendly, and cares about their residents. They notify you if there are any problems. They are diligent about giving the residents their medications. They talk to them with respect and dignity. They celebrate birthdays, play bingo, do manicures, and have someone come in to wash their hair. The rooms are large. They include a bathroom."

"Everybody that we met at Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End was wonderful. The receptionist couldn't have been more pleasant when we walked in. She was welcoming. The salesperson walked us around. Then we met the director of the facility and saw people up and down the hallways assisting people. They were great. The place was gorgeous. It's very much like a home inside. It was beautifully decorated and clean. It was beautiful. They have several different room varieties. The one that they had available to show us was just a single room with a bed, a chair, and its own private bedroom. So it was small, but it was nice. Their activity room was full. It's a nice large room with tables and a lot of hustle and bustle was going on and people looked like they were having a good time. We talked to one of the food service personnel and they said that they had a choice of what you wanted to eat, which we thought was good."

"Elizabeth House was affordable, and it was in a good location for us. The appearance was clean, and it was an excellent place. You have to bring your own furniture. They did help with things that my cousin didn’t have right away. They had a storage room with things that they let you use until you got what you needed. They did have activities, but he didn’t participate because he was too sick by the time he got there. I have no comments with the food; we were there many times when the food was served, and it looks like you get anywhere like that. I don’t think places like that ever seasoned their enough for our liking, but it was a good menu, and the food was appealing. We like the place, the price range, and they had room available. "

"I went to Spring Arbor of Salisbury. It was clean, and it was very nice. It's a little bit older than the other place we visited, but it's not dated. The dining room seemed to be nice. It was just priced a little higher. The staff was very friendly. There were lots of things for them to do. The staff was very pleasant. They gave us a muffin to go and it was very good."

"I toured Brookdale Midlothian. It's a very nice facility but very expensive. The rooms and the closets are small. The tour was good. The staff was knowledgeable and professional. They have nice common spaces."

"I toured Auburn Hill. It was wonderful. It was on the water reservoir. It's a beautiful place. I loved the water and the facility. The memory care portion of that was very impressive, but the driving distance and the traffic were just way too much for my friend's husband. It was a great facility. I'd like to be there. I loved it, but they wouldn't bill insurance. They had areas for the people in memory care that were outside and very nice, but didn't have as much freedom moving around. One thing I liked about their memory care was that it was fairly small. The smaller the patient population, the more attentive the staff are going to be to them, and they were well-staffed for memory care. They were wonderful and spent plenty of time with us. It was great."

"The thing I didn't like about it is they didn't even know I was coming, so there was nobody there to talk to. There was a woman who walked me around, but they were unprepared. The rooms were adequate. Everything looked great. They had a TV room. The assisted living place was OK, but the memory care place was not. A couple of people I saw were cordial. The dining area was clean and looked fine."
