Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village

Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village was a very up-to-date place, the rooms were good sized, and the staff was great. It's a rehab, but they have a hallway that's assisted living. My mother-in-law was actually there for rehab, so we got to experience the staff and stuff. They were always there to help with everything and anything that was needed. I thought the food was fine, but my mother-in-law didn't like it. They had people coming around. They did bingo and different things like that, but she didn't participate. It's very clean. There are some restaurants there near the place.

Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village was clean. I just toured a room that's similar to what my sister would have, and it was adequate. I liked it. I didn't meet any staff members except for the person that was touring with me, and she was nice. They have rehab and they have various levels of care, but what I was looking for was total care for her. It was a very brief tour. I wasn't introduced to other staff members or anything like that.

My mom was at Life Care Center for rehab for a week. I think it was a great place, and I was very impressed with them. The rooms were very appealing, they were light, and they had everything that she needed at the time. It was friendly-looking, not depressing. The dining staff was very good. They offer cooking classes, music, singing programs, and people coming in for entertainment. They do the swallowing, but she didn’t have too much trouble with that, and they just took her places like to get ice cream for their activities. I like the way they do things. I like that they are caring. They’re always interested in the residents and if they want to go and get some ice cream, and they’re not able to go that day, they’ll go get it for them.
