My husband is at Legacy Park Health and Rehabilitation. It is right behind where we live, so that has worked out beautifully. I come over to visit every day. He is in rehab at the moment. It's a five-story building, and they have different services available on different floors. My husband loves the people who work here. They have very nice physical therapy on the first floor, and he goes down every day with one of the people who takes him down and enjoys that tremendously. He gets three meals a day, and he loves that tremendously, too. They had a musical program on one of the floors, and we went down to that the other afternoon. There are just a variety of things going on there. He is in a typical hospital-sized room. They have several different sizes, and he's in the smaller room. The upkeep looks fine to me. Every floor has a dining room. It's surrounded by windows on three sides, and just a delightful area to be in and enjoy. We had a special dinner the other evening there. They furnished my husband and me, and my son food, and it was good. All I have to go on is the calendar, but the activities look good to me because I like to play bingo, and I like listening to music.

We have put down a deposit at Shannondale Retirement Center to be on their waiting list. Based on our tour, the place is satisfactory. They offer a CCRC arrangement, and they are in the process of constructing a new building for independent living, and it looks like it'll be very nice. The rooms that will be available to us will be in the new building, but we have an idea what they'll be like based on floor plans and so on. They have transportation to some events and to doctors. I believe they also provide transportation to the Knoxville Symphony and so on.

My Dad spent the last 4 years of his life here. He dad Parkinson's disease so it was impossible for me to care for him at home. There was a group of 6 residents who shared lunch and dinner in the common area on their floor. They were very close knit. The staff loved my Dad. In fact, several of them came to the memorial service we had for him in the chapel at Shannondale. I could not have been more pleased with Shannondale!

The people who work here are not very friendly. While I was visiting a couple of the residents I saw employees come into the rooms and refill water glasses without saying a word to the resident. Not even a hello. We went to the tv room and past several employees who did not even respond when we said hello to them. I have told my family that if I ever need that kind of care I will haunt them if they place me there.
