Wyndemere Woods is an independent/assisted living private facility, and it's local. Mom has toured it twice, and they put her on a short list. The staff was excellent. I got great feedback from the residents as well as the children of the residents. The place is very, very clean. The atmosphere is phenomenal as far as everyone being approachable. The apartment is exactly what we were looking for. Mom will have her meals, her laundry, and some housekeeping if she so chooses. It's a three-story building, and they have studio apartments as well. Whether you're assisted or independent and/or if you have to transition, you would not have to leave the facility. You would go on a different floor if you will, but you wouldn't be leaving the facility, so you'd still have the same peers. The staff sat with us and discussed various things in detail. Then we toured everything from their country store to the laundry room to meeting some of the assisted living caregivers. We went into the dining rooms. These folks were very attentive and focused on Mom. They said to her, "You will be coming home, not to a nursing home, to your home," and that made all the difference. Her bedroom is larger than 8 x 10. The living room was like 13 x 14 or so. On one corner, there were her cupboards, her refrigerator, a microwave, and two stovetop units. Her dining is three meals a day plus snacks. It was very, very comfortable. The dining area was beautiful. She will be assigned to a table of four, so it's intimate where she can start to adjust to her peers, and then they have the opportunity to switch out tables if they'd like. By them being assigned a table, if she does not show up for the meal, they would check on her. Cleanliness, overall, was very, very nice. We had no problem parking.

I want to know what it's like to be pampered and to get a ride to where I want to go when my sister has a day off from work and she has the pool opened up then she calls the facility to invite me over and she calls the office to have the staff get me ready for a pool day. I get a ride there and back. So I bring her something like a bag of apples or some flowers. There is going to be a time in my life where I won't be able to care for myself any longer and I will need your help as I will be going to the hospital for foot surgery on my left and eventually my right foot will be operated on the same way. I might need your help. I know I will love your food I never tasted it but know it's great! Staff I already know they're sweethearts, the facilities are so clean you wouldn't allow anybody from off the street to use your toilets no matter who it might be you never know that person might steal money or toilet paper. Your facilities are tightly secured that's why I will love it there.

The facilities were very clean and looked relatively new and well cared for. The staff was very helpful and friendly in terms of showing us around. They seemed to be genuinely interested in helping out their clientele. They did not go into much detail concerning payment or pricing during the tour, however, which was a bit off-putting. Having that presented up front would have made me a lot more comfortable with the experience. We did get a list of the organized events for the week though.
