Carriage Manor looks more like a bed and breakfast than a nursing home or personal care home. The staff is very caring but right now, they're understaffed. They have either single rooms or double rooms. They've got a front porch and a rear porch you can sit out on. We moved my mother to another place because she needs more care, but for somebody that needs assisted living, this place is a good value. Since they are understaffed right now, they don't want to take out time to do the activities. It's not that the people are not cared for, because they are. But I don't think they got the time or the staff to do the extra things like the activities and such.
What you can do with Caring
About Carriage Manor in New Castle, Pennsylvania
Located minutes from the Lawrence Village Plaza, Route 422, and Interstate 79, this home, locally known as the second oldest building in Shenango Township, was a carriage stop on the Ellwood Road, in which the traveler could stop for some home-style hospitality for a minimal fee.
In 1992, renovations began to establish a personal care home on the property. Great effort was taken to maintain the historical value of the original structure and design, as can be seen throughout the home.
We have worked tirelessly since the beginning to create and maintain a home in which our residents can feel like they are at home, with the support that they need. We enlist the efforts of the areas leading healthcare professionals to assist us in caring for each and every resident, according to their own individual needs.
At Carriage Court, we are proud of our veterans, and thank them for their service to the people of the United States of America. Please inquire about our Veterans Benefit assistance. We can help you in applying for and receiving enhanced pension benefits for wartime veterans and their widowed spouses.
The time in life to consider the benefits of hospice care for your loved one is a point in which Carriage Court can provide assistance. We have arrangements with the regions top hospice providers to make our residents lives as fulfilling, rewarding, and comfortable as possible. Please inquire with the Director of Nursing.

Carriage Court (Formerly Carriage Manor) is really nice. My mother's accommodations look like a regular bedroom. They have church twice on Sundays, and the laundry is included with the fee. The dining area is nice, big, homey, and has regular tables. The food is really good.

The people at Carriage Court are great as far as being personal, but there's just not too much being offered there in terms of stimulation. We've had a few problems there too, but we've worked those out. She's staying there for respite. The majority of people there are really "not there" as they have dementia problems, are elderly, or physically challenged. I don't think the person I'm taking care of will be able to make friends there, which is important if you're in a community. They have planned activities and she plays bingo. The size and layout of her room are fine, and she uses her furniture. The bathroom is very nice and large. The dining area is very cheerful, big, and open.

My mother was a resident of Carriage Court. It used to be called Carriage Manor. It was a beautiful place, but once the new owners took over it went downhill, and we pulled our mom out of there. All the staff interacted with the patients and they sat around and talked, so I can't complain about the staff. With the new management, they took the common areas and made them into bedrooms so when you came to visit you had nowhere to go to get a little bit of privacy. They had a really good activities director but they got rid of her. They said that my mom needed to be on a pureed diet. We had various tests that said she didn't have to be in it, but they still said she had to be on it. It got to the point where all the residents just had their heads down and were sleeping all the time.

Was used as a b&b before and is an older building. That being said, clean, caring, considerate, and very helpful in an extremely tough times for families. My sister is currently there and is doing better. The costs were 1/2 of other facilities.

The hallways at Carriage Court PCH were extremely narrow and rather dark. I only met the administration lady that gave us the tour. It's on multiple floors and looked very cramped and very small. The dining area was more like cafeteria-style. I didn't see any residents, which means they stick to their rooms, and there's nothing out there for them to get out of bed to do.
