The Best Assisted Living Communities in Mahoning County, OH

"We were able to tour them and it was very nice. I saw everything about assisted living. I like the cleanliness. The rooms were very nice. The staff was friendly and very nice. They had a salon and an activity room and that kind of stuff. The layout was fine."

"It's not as fancy as some other facilities that look like a hotel but has a very warm and caring atmosphere. It was situated in a huge wooded area and my Mom loves outdoors. This is one of the things that we like because it would make her really comfortable.They had actually a couple of units available. We were able to tour those. The units were very nice and clean and it's everything that she would need. The setting was very nice with a window and a view of the courtyard and the flowers and trees. It was very nice. The staff were very nice. We were kinda leaning toward this facility because it fits my Mom's personality better. Also, you get to spend less money but you get more than what you will be paying for. This is the one we are leaning toward by the time my Mom is ready to live in an assisted living facility. "

"My mother is in Woodlands at Austinwoods. You couldn't go in the place, but I think things are going well with my mother right now. She seems pleased with the food. Everything isn't like home, but there's a nice mix. The food isn't the same thing every day by any means and that is good. Some days are better than others, but she's quite pleased. They do a few things, but not much."

"This home has helped me a lot. They help me with my medicine, and doctors the workers care about me. This is my home. A good home. I have lived here since 1989. "

"Paisley House was a beautiful facility, but it was not as big or extensive as the other community we chose. The staff was very helpful and informative. They have a dog that stays in there, which is nice. Their dining area was not big, but it was warm and inviting. "

"Omni West's general appearance seemed older and dated from the outside, but inside, they seemed to have updated it. The director was very good. She was friendly, very nice, and accommodating. She gave us a great tour. It seemed like they cared about the residents. She knew every resident by their first name. The dining area was older, but clean. It wasn't elaborate, however, it was a good size room for the amount of residents that they have. The rooms were on the smaller side. I didn't think they had a lot of activities going on because most of the residents seemed to be in their rooms."

"My father has been in this facility 3 times over the past 6 or 7 years, with broken hip, knee surgery, And stroke, and i can say that each time they have worked hard and provided excellent compassionate care, while he was there. I would recommend this place for anyone, especially if you have one of the above conditions."

"The staff at Inn at Ironwood is helpful. It’s very nice and clean; it’s only 2-years-old. I ate dinner and lunch with my mother there. They have a very nice selection of food; they give you two choices entrees for lunch and dinner. If you don’t like either one, they have a main menu they can choose from. It’s beautiful, and it’s like a 5-Star hotel. The place is safe and secured. They have bingo three times a week, they bring in musicians, and they have outside activities; there are at least seven activities each day. "

"My mother was at this facility for rehab after her heart attack 2 month ago. She did amazing she was walking and back to herself in know time. The facility was clean , the staff was friendly and the nurses made her and myself feel like family. "

"We saw one that we really liked called Victoria House and I can't say enough good things other than their price is a little bit high. They have beautiful people. The residents were very happy which was very important for me. They have two or three styles of apartment. One is with a living room, a bedroom area, and a kitchenette. Their middle grade rooms have a short dividing wall in between bedroom and living area, so it's like a split room. They have a smaller kitchenette and this room costs less. We had lunch there and the food was very good. "

"There were a lot of people at Park Vista. They had a lot of enrichment programs and different kinds of units and were close to the college. They had independent apartments right next door to the assisted living with services. They were beautiful units. They had turned some of the units into one huge unit with two bedrooms, two kitchens, and two bathrooms. The one we saw was only a one-bedroom with one beautiful living room and a small dining room. The drawback is that it's not in the best area of Youngstown. When you come here to live, you're not going out of the building without help. It's not a place for walking around. "

"Levy Gardens was the perfect fit for my aunt. The staff is so kind and attentive, they were like family to her. Her apartment was huge! All of the apartments have a walk-in-closet in the bedroom , and another coat closet in the living room. Her bedroom was separated from the living room with a door, which made it nice when family visited and stayed the night. There was always so much for her to do. They had musical entertainers, lots of fun outings every week, and a massage therapist and yoga instructor. There is a garden in the back where my aunt planted peppers in the summer. The food was great and every apartment had a full kitchen if she every wanted to cook something herself. It is on the same campus as the Jewish Community Center, and everyone that lives there has access to the center and their Silver Sneakers classes. They have 2 vehicles with the nicest drivers in town who would take my aunt wherever she needed to go- to the doctor's office, the beauty shop, shopping. It is a really great place for seniors and I would recommend it to anyone who asks! Levy Gardens is the Best!"

"My mother is in Humility House, and we are happy. The rooms are beautiful, well-furnished, modern, and clean. My mother cannot attend a lot of activities, but she goes to some mass and music thing. "

"I toured The Blackburn Home. It's a little dated. It's an older building that was remodeled into being a retirement assisted living type of place. The rooms were small, the quarters were tight. It's just an older, smaller building. They were very attentive to my mom's needs. What she was looking for, and what she felt comfortable with, and that was very helpful in explaining to us what they would be able to assist her with there. So if somebody is looking for a smaller place where it's not as confusing with all the people in bigger areas to move around, it would be a nice place, but it is on the small side."
