Sarah Reed Senior Living was an older facility. The building was like 100 years old and you know it. The showers were smaller. The bathrooms were smaller because 100 years ago, that's what was sufficient then. It's not their fault, but it just doesn't fit today's needs for most people. Some of their rooms had two rooms with a separate living room and a separate greater room. Sometimes they had just a room. They had a lot to offer. I didn't get to interact with the staff hardly at all. Just the administrator, and I think from the get-go, she recognized it wasn't a good fit for my brother, and so we just went through the motions, but it was a good place.

Sarah Reed Senior Living was recommended by the different people I talked to. I thought it was a good place to go. They seemed to be caring and taking good care of mom. The staff is pretty positive and I'm happy with the facility. They have different activities that they do. They have bingo, piano day, and different things. They have an outside area that they can go to as well, like a courtyard.

My mother is placed at Sarah Reed. She has been there three months now. We chose it because I was familiar with it. I was impressed with it. My sister's mother-in-law was there for several years, too. It is a good sized place. We are pleased with it. My mom has a room, which essentially has a bed, bathroom, etc. The staff is excellent. They keep in touch with us every 90 days, and frequently in between that time. The activities are quite numerous. My mother is involved with music, church, cards, etc.

I was very impressed with my experience involving the Sarah A Reed Retirement Center. I visited the facilities about five times in order to visit my grandmother while she was a resident. Upon arriving the first time, I was warmly greeted by the staff, given an escort to find my grandmother's room, was briefed on how she filled her time every day, and I was offered answers for all of the information I asked about. After greeting my grandmother, I was allowed to go on a walk with her and look at the facilities, which were in great shape and all of the people I encountered were very friendly. I feel confident that while she spent her time there, she was well taken care of, and she seemed very happy. I was very pleased with my visits and how we were both taken care of while I was there. The quality of both the staff and facilities was very high.

My experience at the Sarah A Reed Retirement Center was a great one. The staff was very kind and answered all of the questions my girlfriend's family had. It is up-to-date with technology and medical treatments. They cook all the food fresh and made to order. It looks delicious and top notch. All the rooms are kept clean and organized with helpful nurses to aid. There are a lot of activities to do while at the retirement center and the residents are not restricted to stay in their rooms. Everyone on staff is helpful and respectful of the residents and each other. There is a lot of connection between the nurses and residents because the nurses are always talking to them. Everyone said hello to my girlfriend's grandma as she walked around and I know she appreciated it. My girlfriend feels very comfortable visiting her grandma here and knows she will be in the best care possible.

I am very impressed with Sarah Reed with regards to the cleanliness, layout, amenities available. The staff is very welcoming and caring, and really seem to care about the residents. My mother-in-law is much better and safer at Sarah Reed than when she was living alone. She has dementia and the facility takes care of her basic needs. Plus, as the disease escalates, my mother-in-law will automatically be transferred to the nursing home which involves more care. Right now, my mother-in-law is considered "independent" although she goes down to the dining room three times a day for her meals. If she forgets, a worker calls her room to remind her, and if she doesn't answer the phone, someone goes immediately to her room to check. There are an incredible number activities for the residents, including parties, recitals (music, readings, etc.), games (bingo, cards, etc.). Even a library is available to the residents and family members. Visitors have to sign in and out. There is very limited parking for some residents who are able to drive. We have eaten lunch with my mother-in-law in a private dining room which was lovely... the food is very good and much better than we expected. One concern we do have is that my mother-in-law could walk out without being noticed since the receptionist is not right in front of the entrance... she's hidden behind a glass window. My mother-in-law seems content for the most part but occasionally threatens to "go back home" which doesn't exist anymore. We are impressed by the decor of the facility and the fact that there are handles/bars along both sides of the corridor walls for residents to hold onto. The elevators are very large to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. Although there are a lot of activities, we wish that the workers would actually encourage residents to participate... by calling their rooms or actually visiting them to prod them. Staff comes into the rooms on a monthly basis to do a thorough cleaning. I wish the bathrooms were cleaned more frequently, maybe weekly. Not sure if that is done. I'll have to check. All in all, Sarah Reed is wonderful and perfect for my mother-in-law at this time. It's very reasonable and assurances have been made that when the money runs out, they will keep her under Medicaid. This is very comforting. Our family is very blessed to have found Sarah Reed.
