The 501 at Mattison Estate

My mother will be moving into The 501 at Mattison Estate. She needs memory care and this is the first memory care that I found where it really provides an environment where one would feel as though they're not in a hospital ward or a nursing home, but rather a community and kind of an apartment living that's giving them the care that they need. There's a lot of outdoor gated areas. Because they're privately owned, they don't have a lot of turnover and they're all trained in a certain philosophy to deal with individuals like my mom with Alzheimer's. I was really impressed by them. I think because they're privately owned and only have six communities they're really able to focus on the care that the residents need in these different communities. It has a really great memory care setup. They have a continuum of care. They have independent, assisted living, and memory care. I picked it because I think it's a five from top to bottom. They've been very flexible in accommodating my mom's diet. It's gorgeous.

My mom moved into The 501. It is an upscale facility, and it had all the amenities that she was looking for. It is very new and modern. It doesn't give the appearance of being a retirement home. It looks like a regular apartment complex. I've been there several times now for dinner and lunch, and the food is delicious. Everything that I've eaten so far has been scrumptious. She's in a single apartment, and it is very nice and well put together. The staff is very accommodating. They assisted us with all of her move-in needs. They are very responsive and always on top of things. It is an extremely welcoming community.

We're at The 501 in Ambler. Our accommodations are much more spacious than the other places that we looked at. They also have services that we need, including meals, physical therapy, and medical services. The staff has been terrific, very friendly, and accommodating. They try to take care of any needs that you might have, and they're very supportive. The staff here has been very good. It's an all-inclusive community, but at this point, we are in independent living. The meals have been very good and very well prepared. The only concern we've had has been the salt that was in the diet here. We did speak with the dietitian and they have made accommodations. We have a two-bedroom, two-bath unit. They have movies and special events. They have many available activities. They will take you shopping and to doctors' appointments. They have doctors that come in and offer their services.
