This Day Care was an answered prayer for my Dad who had Alzheimer's the last 6yrs of his life he lived with my husband and I. I remember the 1st two weeks I took him he cried and cussed me out at the same time as I had to sneak out! I felt bad but being a parent and a former teacher of 20yrs I KNEW it was the best for us both. Just as with a young child starting school you don't ASK them your prepare them OUT of LOVE! BUT after 2weeks he absolutely LOVED the place and all the wonderful workers. I was amazed at the variety of activities they did inside the facility and outside. True Angels that made my Father's yrs there SO happy and gave him a reason to get up each day. My Dad Bob, went there for over 5yrs. The day the Lord brought him home instantly he had got up to get his clothes on, eager to go to "Seniors" as he called it. He instantly died and was with the Lord before he hit the floor the paramedics said. My Dad was a WWII Air Force Bomber Pilot who met another WWII pilot at the Adult Day Care center who soon became a close friend along with many others plus the employees. I doubt people who worked there those yrs forgot my Dad "Bob" soon! I know I have NEVER! He made an impression for sure-good and ornery! Rogers Country made a great impression with us also! They helped with his showers etc. A MUCH needed service for us! (The ONLY thing he didn't care for at the center!) but a much needed one with my husband and I both physically disabled! They entered his first yrs crafts creation in the Claremore County Fair. He brought home a small check and couldn't remember what it was for? But I soon found out and also found that he got a Blue Ribbon at the Fair and was SO PROUD of it!. We were too and were sure to take him each yr letting him find his creation and telling us about the others he knew well. I know for SURE the socialization, care and love of the Adult Day Care Center helped my Father's Alzheimer's not progress as fast. Socialization is SO important! I have seen TOO many people stay at home never going out and go downhill MUCH faster! He looked SO forward to each weekday. In fact his calendar we always kept for him to see each day he would mark out Saturdays and Sundays! I told him that wouldn't make them go away! LOL! It was like I had a child again so happy to see him happy to go and happy to come home each day telling me about his friends and activities! Usually I had to ask but looked at the schedule and that would refresh his memory. I will NEVER forget the employees who came to Dad's funeral and I wrote about their God Given service for others in the eulogy. It meant SO much to me and I am sure my Dad. I can't thank you enough for making my Dad's last 6yrs SO much more fulfilling! As he would say "If it wasn't for "Seniors" he would have had to sit home with his cat!" It recharged his battery each day and ours too and made our blessed yrs with him SO MUCH better for ALL of us. God Bless YOU ALL! RR Bob the Old Pilots Daughter! P.S. DO YOURSELF AND YOUR loved one a great favor! Visit Rogers Adult Day Care Center. YOU deserve it and your Loved one does also. You cannot FIND a better place for them to enjoy a day full of meaning and also therefore you will be able to recharge your own battery. YOUR health will be better as well as your loved one! Both your lives will be enriched for it. DON'T put it off another day! God Bless! Robin
