"I'd like to choose Good Samaritan as a facility for my mom, and as a matter of fact, I got her on the waiting list in this facility. The facility is very nice, and the rooms are a good size. The price is much better than the other facility I've looked at. The staff are very helpful. At the time that I was there, they had some people playing, and the second time I was there they had some Mardi Gras activity going on. "

"I was visiting a resident at Wyndridge Health and Rehab Center. I just liked it all. It was very, very impressive. It was very clean. I liked it very much. The staff was very nice and respectful. The condition of the place was very good. I didn't go around looking. I just went into the room and visited. The room was very nice and very good. I felt like I wanted to move in."

"Every time we came in, people were polite to us and helped us out. They were great, but the first thing that hit you when you came in the door was the smell! It is indescribable. It smelled like green beans, a little like a squeaky disinfectant smell, and urine and feces. People seemed taken care of alright, although I do remember one instance where an old man in a wheelchair, seemingly unattended, kept trying to talk to me from the hallway. He seemed very senile and very much out of it. I was waiting for someone to come by and help him back to his room, but no one did. In general, I do find these homes slightly depressing - this one just didn't stand out to me as being any better. Yes, the home took care of the people's needs for food, water, cleanliness, and comfort in general and kept those up to standards, but again, it was not very happy feely there. "

"My father was in Wharton Nursing Home. It was really nice, and my mom and sister were really happy with it. My dad received really good care there. We had some meetings with them, and they were great. The staff was wonderful, kind and caring, and every time we called with a question or whatever, they had time to talk to us. They were very responsive and very good. He's back home now."

"My wife was at Standing Stone Care and Rehab. It's absolutely wonderful. She got a shared room which is like what you would expect to see. They basically were side by side and nothing between them. They have little games and things that they play, but not nearly as many as the activities in the other place. They have long-term care there, too. It's a fairly large building. And you can go down one hall, down the other hall, back up this hall, back up to where you started, and so you can have a nice walk. They also allowed me to go out front, which my wife really liked. They had an overhang thing and a couple of benches there. They have the bedrooms, and then they have a large room with lots of chairs and tables. That's where they have the TV, and where they spend all their time there. It was all covered by Medicare. The main thing in that place was the staff. They were so wonderful, and the building was pretty nice."
