"I am a current temporary resident of this facility because I had a total knee replacement done. So I came here seeking PT and OT treatment and also regular treatment while I was healing. This is such a nice place with wonderful care and you can tell that the workers are sincerely concerned with making sure you are comfortable and cared for. It is clean and I love love the nurses aides are always there for me. So I couldn’t recommend this high enough!!!!"

"My mother was at Atlantic Coast Rehab & Health for about a year. I was satisfied with them but I moved her because the place was too far away from where I lived. There was a nurse round the clock and they took good care of her. However, the room she shared with another resident was too small. There was not enough room for furniture or anything like that. Nonetheless, I had no complaints with the facility. "

"Right now, my Father is in a nursing home in Ditmas Park Rehab Care Center. He's been there about 3 weeks now. We personally chose this nursing home. Anyway, it's only temporary. I must say the staff treats my father very good. He's well taken care of. It's a very clean facility and has a home-like feeling. It's nicely decorated. With regards to the food I must say he's eating properly. It's a very nice facility. They have a residents sitting room wherein they have events going on every day. They have some entertainment and activities for the residents which is good. I will recommend them to others. "

"For 20 years, I lived next door to an elderly man (Mr. Bennett) and his wife. When his wife passed, my family and I were amazed at how active Mr. Bennett remained. He did all his yard work including using a not powered lawn mower, kept a garden with flowers and golfed almost daily. Mr. Bennett is now 93 and took a bad fall in his home where he lived alone. He had arm damage from laying on his arm until he was found. No one is around now to take care of Mr. Bennett, so he was put into a nursing home. Gateway is the facility Mr. Bennett was put into. At first I was reluctant to visit him because the only things I remember from a nursing home were the old people who lived in them being kind of scary. Well, this facility was very nice compared to what I remember facilities being like. Mr. Bennett was sitting with a nurse eating when I went to go see him. The nurse was very kind and caring, while feeding him his meal of all soft foods. Within minutes, his physical therapist was there too. His physical therapist said that Mr. Bennett was his buddy. He was there because Mr. Bennett was having a problem swallowing and he was trying to diagnose the problem. He seemed really nice and knowledgeable. I had brought Mr. Bennett some chocolates. The nurse was kind enough to explain that he keeps whatever is in his mouth, in his mouth (hence the swallowing issue.) She said I could give him a chocolate though, and she seemed like she took the time to get to know him well! I went into Mr. Bennett's room, and the blanket my mom had purchased for him was still on his bed. There were some cookies there too that hadn't been eaten from Christmas. I hope someone has the sense to throw them out. Overall, I had a very good experience at Gateway. I don't have much to compare it too, but I know it wasn't the type of facility I remember from when I was a kid. There was no stale urine smell, and it was a warm place instead of looking like a hospital. "

"Jersey Shore Center was on a pretty much the same level as the other nursing homes, but the rooms looked nice and roomy. The staff who accommodated me was very pleasant, helpful and kind, but they're not enough to help the people there. The dining area seemed pleasant enough, and there was a gentleman singing when I was there."

"My mother is in Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls. She was there once before, and it's excellent therapy; she was able to walk again. When you call them, they respond. They're there for whatever your needs are. They're very responsible. When you need something, they'll call you back instantly. I called them this morning at 8:30, by 10:00, I had an answer. They're very caring to my mother. The food is excellent. If she doesn't like what they are serving that day, they will make her anything else she needs -- salmon, there are many choices. It's an excellent place. They're a "five" in every aspect, and they are caring, concerned, and responsible."

"I visited some friends at Mommouth Care Center. The staff is very nice, very kind, and courteous. It’s a very nice place and very clean. They’ve been having Church every Sunday, and then they have a movie room. I guess they would play cards and everything else. They have a TV room and some other kind of rec room. It’s very nice. "

"My sister has memory issues and was not able to take care of herself. Living far distant from her, I rely on the wonderful care HMH has offered. The staff, especially the Activities department (Sue and Frank) keep my sister engaged with pertinent activities. My sister enjoys the food and especially the morning coffee cart. I have FaceTime every week to connect and have engaging conversation with my sibling. She is up to date with the local and world news via her room TV. Her clothes are clean . She likes the art and cooking and trivia activities. The building is not attractive but the kindness of the people is note worthy."

"The reason why I toured The Atrium At Navesink Harbor is that someone I knew was there, and I wanted to see what it was like. It was a loved one of a friend. I'm also touring it for my brother. I thought that there were a lot of people on hand who were attending to the patients. It looked like they weren't short-staffed, like some of the places. Most of the people were friendly and welcoming. It was extremely clean. They said they fed my friend two meals a day. They actually let him sit at the nurse's station when he gets bored. He was wheelchair bound, so they were very kind to him. I thought he was well taken care of, and they attended to his needs."

"My uncle is at Hackensack Meridian Health Nursing & Rehab Manor by the Sea. It was recommended to us by the assisted living where he was. He had also been there for sub-acute rehab. He has a single room right now, but it's meant for a double. His room has a television, bureau, and bed. The staff is adequate and they're very attentive. He needs a Hoyer lift to get him to sit up and has to eat a pureed diet because of his swallowing problems. There are activities. They've brought him down to see an entertainer, but other than that, I don't think he participates a lot. But they have activities. The people there are very nice, and they have programs. The place is pleasant and clean, and the staff seems knowledgeable. He's on Medicaid right now."

"My relative chose the Medicenter Nursing Home in Neptune City, New Jersey, because it was close to family and friends. I visited with her several times a week there and it was a facility that I could not recommend to anyone. She was an active patient, but could not walk well. An alarm was placed on her to alert the staff if she tried to get out of her chair. When the alarm sounded, no one would respond. She fell on the floor so many times while in this nursing home that I stopped counting. She was bruised from head to toe. The home bragged that they were a "no restraint" facility, but they failed to add that their residents were often the victims of injuries due to falls. Medicenter was also not up to par on cleanliness. I witnessed nursing aides leaving patient's rooms still wearing the gloves that they had used in handling the patient. The staff didn't seem to understand basic rules of hygiene. I felt positive when my relative entered this home, because it was a small facility with a fairly good reputation. Afterwards, I regretted not helping to get her into another home. I arrived there one day to find my relative unable to speak intelligibly. I had to almost beg the nurse to call her doctor. She was taken to the hospital where she died a week later. She was in kidney failure, and the staff didn't notice how ill she seemed. If another family member wanted to reside in this nursing home, I would do everything possible to talk them out of it. "
