Shore Pointe Care Center was promising. The people were very friendly, cooperative, and helpful. Their layout was just standard. You've got a central hallway and a central dining room. Unfortunately, it just took three weeks to hear back from them. Other than that, it's a reasonable place.

The caregivers at this facility have wonderful attitudes, and my grandmother has received excellent and timely medical care.

The Facility has the best rehab programs and staff that really care about the residents. The food is delicious. The rooms in the facility are kept clean!!!

This place is a disaster and travesty. The people that own this facility are completely money hungry and care nothing about their patients or the cleanliness and upkeep of their facility. Everyone who works there mindlessly does the bare minimum to get by, and show no love or care to any of the residents. Remove any of your loved ones immediately.

For 20 years, I lived next door to an elderly man (Mr. Bennett) and his wife. When his wife passed, my family and I were amazed at how active Mr. Bennett remained. He did all his yard work including using a not powered lawn mower, kept a garden with flowers and golfed almost daily. Mr. Bennett is now 93 and took a bad fall in his home where he lived alone. He had arm damage from laying on his arm until he was found. No one is around now to take care of Mr. Bennett, so he was put into a nursing home. Gateway is the facility Mr. Bennett was put into. At first I was reluctant to visit him because the only things I remember from a nursing home were the old people who lived in them being kind of scary. Well, this facility was very nice compared to what I remember facilities being like. Mr. Bennett was sitting with a nurse eating when I went to go see him. The nurse was very kind and caring, while feeding him his meal of all soft foods. Within minutes, his physical therapist was there too. His physical therapist said that Mr. Bennett was his buddy. He was there because Mr. Bennett was having a problem swallowing and he was trying to diagnose the problem. He seemed really nice and knowledgeable. I had brought Mr. Bennett some chocolates. The nurse was kind enough to explain that he keeps whatever is in his mouth, in his mouth (hence the swallowing issue.) She said I could give him a chocolate though, and she seemed like she took the time to get to know him well! I went into Mr. Bennett's room, and the blanket my mom had purchased for him was still on his bed. There were some cookies there too that hadn't been eaten from Christmas. I hope someone has the sense to throw them out. Overall, I had a very good experience at Gateway. I don't have much to compare it too, but I know it wasn't the type of facility I remember from when I was a kid. There was no stale urine smell, and it was a warm place instead of looking like a hospital.
