"My dad is in Happy Siesta Health Care Center. It's a nursing home and memory care. I like that the staff is very caring and very upbeat. It's an older facility, but it seemed to be well-kept. They recently did a renovation at one of their lounge areas. They have a calendar of activities but I'm not sure how many of those my father is interested in participating in. I do know he plays bingo but I'm not sure if he's participating in anything else there right now."

"Mom is in Kingsley Specialty Care, and she's doing really well. It's really close to us. They've been very understanding, patient, and accommodating. She has not complained at all, and they said she's eating well. It's clean, the accommodations aren't as big as some of the private care places, but for what it is, I think it's very nice. I think what they make up for in space and stuff like that is the personal attention, and the communications with the family. They're a smaller facility, they only have like 43 people, so they're able to do that, and that's nice that they can. Normally, they have group activities; they have an atrium where they have little birds that they can watch, but right now they have some restrictions because of covid. They have found ways to have like pre-schoolers come up and stand outside the windows and perform, and things like that. They're doing everything they can to keep people entertained."

"Morningside provided a clean, respectful, structured environment for my grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Because she lived alone before she moved to this care facility, my grandmother was isolated, detached from her small community. When she moved to the home, just being around other people, both caregivers and other residents, helped her come out of her shell and begin to enjoy life again. Not having the burden to provide all of her own care (meals, cleaning, self-care, etc.) freed her up to pursue leisure activities. The staff all genuinely care for the residents as individuals. I never felt that they treated my grandmother as just a patient. Rather, they worked to tailor her care to her own individual interests such as gardening, animals, and nursing. This allowed her to be more present and to alleviate her previous isolation. In short, I am grateful to them for giving my grandmother quality of life after she was diagnosed. "
