"My husband was put in Pleasant View to get rehab because he got sepsis and he got really sick. About a week after he was in there, he got Covid, but he's home now. I just got him on Sunday, and he's doing OK. He was at Pleasant View for two months. I really liked the people in there. I could tell they're really caring. They would always take the phone to him whenever I'd call. I can't really give a good evaluation because I was never there very much. I went in the first day to register him, and I never went again. I stood outside his window a couple of times and brought him Christmas presents, but not as far as going in and thoroughly evaluate it. As far as good care, he was better when he got home, so that's pretty good to me. He got a private room. When we put him in there, I was fearful of Covid, and then they got it on Thanksgiving weekend, but my husband is lucky he had a really light case of it. These were good women that took care of him. I don't think there were any guys there. My husband is a big guy, and he's 6'3. Honestly, I really doubt they had any activities with this Covid thing going around. They needed to isolate my husband in his room, so he didn't get physical therapy then. He was isolated in his room for a couple of weeks. It really is hard for me to give that place a grade right now, but I'd give them an A absolutely. The only thing that really mattered to me was these kind women and the care they gave. The place was real quaint, and it's the first thing you see. The second thing is this big giant church, and right across the street is this nice little rest home. It's kind of like a Y-shaped brick, and it looked modern and nice. My husband had an end room. I didn't have any complaints, but then I can't have anything to compare it to either. He didn't have any complaints with the food, and he didn't lose any weight. I've checked in with others, and it's not cheap. That's one of the reasons why I'm not keeping my husband in there because it will wipe me out. As long as I can take care of him and he can get up, I'm going to. I know that Pleasant View is $2000 cheaper than the other place here and that's huge."

"My husband is at Fonda Specialty Care. The staff is nice. He was there once before a few years ago, and they were very, very accommodating. When he was there before, his room was very accommodating, but right now they won't let me into the facility. I had to stay outside, and I stood by the car when he moved in. He has a cell phone, so we can always talk, and he seems pretty happy there. He's beginning to get to know some friends and look at the activities that are available for him. They have decent food, and he can have whatever he wants whenever he wants. They just seem to be really, really accommodating. He is getting dementia."

"Morningside provided a clean, respectful, structured environment for my grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Because she lived alone before she moved to this care facility, my grandmother was isolated, detached from her small community. When she moved to the home, just being around other people, both caregivers and other residents, helped her come out of her shell and begin to enjoy life again. Not having the burden to provide all of her own care (meals, cleaning, self-care, etc.) freed her up to pursue leisure activities. The staff all genuinely care for the residents as individuals. I never felt that they treated my grandmother as just a patient. Rather, they worked to tailor her care to her own individual interests such as gardening, animals, and nursing. This allowed her to be more present and to alleviate her previous isolation. In short, I am grateful to them for giving my grandmother quality of life after she was diagnosed. "

"I have visited the Pocahontas Manor Care facility many times. My visits occurred at all times of the day during visiting hours and during each day of the week. I knew a few of the residents and also some of the workers. The facility is clean and well maintained. The exterior grounds are well landscaped and well groomed. Inside the hallways and rooms are kept freshly painted and clean. The areas are well lit and fairly cheerful. The staff was always friendly. They also treated the residents with respect and it was clear that they were well trained to care for the folks staying at the nursing home. The facility sponsored special events like school children visits for singing programs.Overall, the Pocahontas Manor Care facility is a good institution where you can feel confident that your loved ones will be well taken care of. I would recommend it to my friends and relatives. "
