"My mother-in-law went to Oaks on Parkwood. She has been there for three weeks now. She's very happy there. She's been very welcomed and very happy. Her room is nice, and she's got enough room to be happy and be comfortable. It's in excellent shape. She has nothing but praise for all the staff. She's been very complimentary of all of them. She said the food was better than what she had previously in other facilities. It's a beautiful campus. They have a pool that she could use if she would, and they have lots of sidewalks and everything that she could get out and walk when the weather cools off. They have bingo and singing, and they have a movie room. She's an avid reader, and they have a nice library."

"Mount Royal has very nice facilities with fabulous views across Birmingham. The nurses were all very kind to my grandparents and quick to help with any problems. The home features a few nice communal dining areas and a balcony area to tend plants or just enjoy some sun overlooking the city. The meal service is prompt every day and the meals are enjoyable, plus the staff is willing to cater to specific needs or just picky eaters. Different rooms offer different luxuries, my grandparents' having a sitting/TV room and kitchen in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. There is a friendly atmosphere about the place. Decorations are always out for holidays (i.e. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Birthdays, etc.) and again the staff goes out of their way to make their residents feel at home. I would recommend Mount Royal to anyone looking for a reasonably priced but nice and nurturing place to move his or her loved ones. "

"They had therapy twice a day at the Healthsouth Lakeshore, and it was top notch. They did not have other activities. We were just there for therapy so we can get better and go home. The therapists were all top notch. They really worked on getting people up and moving again. "

It was more of a family setting than a nursing home or facility setting. He thought the food was good. They had some outdoor spaces. They had multiple rooms and multiple things going on. "We chose Greenbriar at the Altamont because of the location and price. The person who gave us the tour was very familiar with the place. The tour was good, but most of the residents were in their rooms because of the virus situation. The facilities were a little bit older, but not to the point where there are maintenance issues or concerns. They gave us an activity sheet. The dining area was spacious and homey."

The staff was very nice, explained things, and was very courteous. She took us to the physical therapy area. Everything was in place. The clients all seemed clean and dressed."

"St. Martin’s-in-the-Pines provides everything for mom, like medical care, food, bathing, and has a doctor and nurses on-staff. I think it’s real good care, and we are very pleased. I like the setup of the cottages, which are more like homes. They have a great area with the kitchen open, and you can see every bedroom from that area. There’s 10 bedrooms per floor. They all can come out into the main living area and eat together in the dining area where they cook the meals. "

"I was at Diversicare of Bessemer for rehab. Their CNAs were great but I had problems with the nurses there. There was a medication mix-up on the nursing side. Everything else was alright. The physical therapy was excellent. Some days the meals were not good, other days were pretty good. It was very clean but looks like it needs to be remodeled."
