I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved to The Healthcare Center at Buck Creek. It is a nice large facility, well laid out. It seems to be very well-staffed, and so far we've been pleased with the feedback and the interaction with everyone from the nursing staff to administration. There are other activities that I'm aware of like bingo, art, some like gardening and flowers and stuff for people who are still more capable. She is currently in a single room. She may be relocated to a dual room, but I'm not certain yet, her room itself is very basic, and it's adequate. The whole facility is older and could use a little bit of update and touch-up here and there.

I visited this facility

The Healthcare Center at Buck Creek was professional. The people were very helpful. Jessica, the lady we met with, was the administrative assistant of admission. She took us on a tour of the facility. The problem with that facility was they were continually trying to update it to get it up to where it should be, a modernized facility, but it's going to take several years to get it to that point. The building itself was built back in the 1970's and it needed repair work, so the rooms were rather drab. You had to share a restroom between two patients, and it just wasn't aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was at The Healthcare Center at Buck Creek. It was a big place. The rehabilitation side was a brand-new facility, and it was manned properly. The nursing home was approximately 60 years old. There was double occupancy in what should have been a single room. The nursing staff was short and there was not a doctor there. He only came in maybe twice a week. So if you have any questions, you have to get one of the nurses to try to get him online. My mother was there off and on for about 3 weeks. Her roommate had to call an ambulance for her because the nurses wouldn't do it. I was very displeased with the whole service there. Once she got there into the nursing facility, approximately 3 days later after her hospital stay, she passed away. There was an activities director and there was a calendar given out monthly, but it was just arts and crafts type of things. There was no exercise room and there was no pool. The residents were just bored to tears sitting out in the hall or watching TV. Somebody from the outside came in once a week to do hair and nails if they wanted it at an additional charge.

I visited this facility

The Healthcare Center at Buck Creek was a very institutionalized nursing home. It just had the essentials of caring for somebody. It seemed like a very professional facility, but it didn't feel home-like. The residents were just sitting around and it looked very hospital-like. The staff was very informative, very knowledgeable, and personable. There was a back porch with a few chairs, but I did not see a big outdoor space or a pavilion.

A great place for people to live who aren't able to completely care for themselves.
