The rooms have been nicely renovated with a modern touch. The food is really good here as they use SYSCO foods inc. The staff all seem to work together to provide a pleasant and caring environment。 This facility was previously called Accordius and didn't have a very good reputation in the community, but the August group that is out of Richmond VA, has turned this place around in the last two years and it shows. I believe that every skilled nursing has their issues, but I honestly do like the atmosphere of this place. Go and take a tour.

My mother is still in rehab at August Healthcare at Wilmington. They're very caring when they have enough staff. Staffing is an issue everywhere. For the past two weeks, she's had the same caregivers and they are very caring. I think the change of ownership has helped. She had issues in the past, but I think with the new ownership, things are looking up. The one thing that they do not allow is her electric wheelchair, which I think is going to be a minus because she has an electric wheelchair and she's not going to be able to use it if she goes into full care there. I have not been to the other areas. It's a very large place. Their PT and OT are excellent. They have transportation and they have outings. They go to the Dollar Store and the movies. Their recreation is lacking. They just got a new recreational director. Hopefully, things will improve because my mother does get very bored because there's nothing for her to do. It is very clean. Even when there's been an accident, it is cleaned up right away. There's no odor. Whenever my mom's had an issue, by that afternoon, it's been fixed. She had a problem with her TV. It's very maintained. They need to improve their food, their activities, and communication. They are very lacking in communication with their residents.

The smell hits you as you walk in the door. This facility is barely making the grade. Apparently under staffed as there is very little care given to our family member. No personal care at all. You must check on your loved one every day!

My brother is staying in Accordius Health at Wilmington for rehab. The structure of the place itself seems to be like a pinwheel, with several hallways off of the pinwheel. There are some game rooms in each of the other corridors or hallways. The paint is brand new in there, but it's really dark and depressing, and I'm kind of surprised at that. They seem to be short-staffed but they're trying their best. The food is so-so. If you ask for a glass of milk, it's hard to get it. There's a lot of improvement that could be had. The staff had tried really well. My brother's room is always clean, and the therapy room is clean. They have bingo, they took the residents to a movie last week at an outside theater, they use balloons or lightweight balls that they toss around with each other. I think the activities could improve a lot, they don't have much that's dedicated to men. I think they could have card games and things that would be more of interest to men. Medicare is covering his expenses at this time.

My Grandmother recently spent three weeks in Wilmington Health and Rehabilitation Center. I chose this facility for my Grandmother based on location, room availability and ratings. Upon entering this facility for the first time I found the facility to be clean and without any noticeable odors which I was not accustomed to when visiting other facilities. Like all relationships there was a learning curve getting to know the routines and staffing but I quickly understood any issues that I had was a direct result of me not communicating with the Directors and staff as to what my Grandmothers and families special needs were. Wilmington Health and Rehabilitation not only addressed my Grandmothers needs but also had her families best interest in mind as well. Wilmington Health and Rehabilitation went above and beyond what I was expecting because they wanted to, not because it was required or requested by me. Their Directors and Social Workers were on the floors and available daily @ all hours including nights and weekends, always more than eager to help and assist. I found "ALL" Nurses, Aids, Housekeeping and Maintenance personnel to be friendly, polite, helpful and compassionate. I know what it requires to take care of an 101 year old elderly woman who is confined to a bed and has to be bathed, cleaned and Tube Fed daily and turned every 2 hours to prevent bed sores because I have helped do it for the past 13 months. We as clients should be more respectful and show more patience and understanding for the staffing and facilities like the Wilmington Health and Rehabilitation Center. More times than not facilities like Wilmington Health and Rehabilitation are left with taking care of patients that their families either don't have time for or just don't want to be bothered with any longer.

This facility looks older than some facilities that we visited. However, the overall care my father received was much better than at the previous facility my father was at. The director of nursing was on the floor quite a bit, and she was available anytime we had concerns to address. The nurses & aides took very good care of my dad. They became like family to us during his stay. Sure, we had a few issues...we found some hygiene problems with an aide who was in too big of a hurry to clean up the mess she made after cleaning my dad's BM. We had an issue with an aide who was hateful to my dad too. Both issues were addressed quickly & to our satisfaction, however. The therapy staff was top-notch. They worked with us extensively to prepare for bringing my dad home. Don't be put off by the fact that the building needs updating throughout...staff make or break a facility. The staff made a difference for my dad!

The shortage of floor staff puts all residents at risk. My mother had NUMEROUS falls and received very serious injury because no one responded to alleged bed alarms and/or the light that goes on outside the door when a patient pushes it for assistance. Patients are kept in front of the nurses desk out in the hallway if they require "too much care" and those patients that do need care are ignored by nurses who either say "I'll be right there, or that's not my patient." My mother should have just gone there in an outpatient setting for rehab. Rehab was excellent, but the floors I would rate a ZERO PLUS out of a scale from 1-10.

I had a relative in this facility. There we're indeed two professionals in nursing and administration, that we're professional and awesome! I was there almost everyday for 90 day's! It was a sad place. They staff seemed over worked and I can honestly say, very rude! To the CO'S and 90 percent of the nurses that would give out the meds.It scared me to death knowing someone I loved and adored had to be subjected to such people! My main reason for this review is my relative has Dementia, if you are at all understanding of this diceace, one knows how scared they become.I came in earlier than normal aand Mom was not in her room.I could hear someone yelling in fear, I had ask a worker where Mom was ? She told me and I'm standing there in shock and horror because it was my Mum screaming! The worker decoding the door and what I saw was more than I could bare! My darling Mum in a bathtub with 4, can't standing around talking and laughing while my Mum was slumped down in this tub with the jets on and she was hanging on the sides! I was livid! To say the least! All they did was give me an attitude and as I'm getting my Mum a towel and in comes a RD because one of the girls went to get her.She saw immediately the situation told me it would be safer for me to leave until they got her out and I of course agreed because this was going to be addressed one way or the other! As I feel I have no choice, I'm walking our and there on the chair was my sunglasses that had been taking when I had forgotten them afew days earlier.I stop and turned and looked at these young ladies and said to them....These people in here may not all have family but that is My Mum, we love and care very much for her! She is not stupid and she communicates with us! This is inexcusable , unprofessional and criminal! My Mum was terrified! And I ended saying....These ppl in here are in your hands, they are or we're someone's Mum or Dad, if you do not like your job or do not like your like people then you're in the wrong business! It was unforgivable! My Mum had gowns stolen, a very nice razor and of course my glasses.I had several run in and the day I took her out of there was a glorious day! These ppl have your family in there 24/7, and you need to feel secure they are being taking care of physically and emotionally. I know from research that most nursing homes are really alike.Ive talked to ppl since Mum was there and it saddens me! It can be reported and investagated.but one really shouldn't have to go through this kind of ordeal to feel the safety of someone you love so dear! Also seniors with Alzhimers and Dementia, need water but there they discouraged water due tto not wanting to change patients it goes on and on! I was there with her for most of those ninety days!

We were pleased with Wilmington Health and Rehabilitation Center although there were some issues. Overall, the care they provided was good.
