I am/was a resident of this facility

I am at Sitrin Health Care Center for rehab. Physical and occupational therapy are very good here. They're good at getting people back on their feet and doing things. The nursing staff is good, too. You can get a choice of your meals. Sometimes they don't do it exactly right, but they try to get you to eat something that you like, and they have alternates. Sometimes they don't have as much help as they could have, but they work with what they've got. Because of COVID, the activities aren't as much as they used to be. You can get your hair done and you can do manicures. There are books available for reading. The gym is usually used by the therapy department. They clean the rooms every day.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I spent several days in the rehab facility. Fast forward 6 months and I just received a collections notice to pay a bill I was never sent and now have an order to appear in court even though I was never contacted by Sitrin. I was told prior to going to the facility it would be covered 100% then am told I owe them 3500 dollars. The billing department is incompetent and never responded to our several attempts to clear up this matter. I would be very cautious if you are thinking of going here or sending your loved ones here. There are several better quality facilities in our area. save yourself a potential headache.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law moved into Sitrin Health Care Center. It was something that we kind of did as a Google search. It looked like they had a powerful website, so that was very helpful for us in the initial stages. The floors and carpeting looked a little aged. They did say that they're in the process of refurbishing all of the homes. I would expect soon that the floors and carpeting will be updated. The staff members were super friendly. They did provide a testing kit. Before you go there, you have to take a test. Then you either provide a picture of it or bring the test in with you to show that it's negative.

Caused malnutrition, rudest uncaring staff, terrible food, refusal to walk the patient out of laziness, rudest make social worker, staff refused to provide adequate water, they resent any asking for help with patients. They put catheters in because too lazy to walk the patients. They force patients to be wheeled 23 hours a day except in physical therapy. They are riding on their false reputation. Newsweek is off. I wouldn't put my dog in there. Scary place, rudest, uncaring, lying staff, except for a few. This is my observation and my opinion , after visiting everyday for 3 weeks. My friend is lucky to come out alive, lost 20 pounds, food horrendous. Only nice thing was scenery and newer buildings. People we're awful except one or two. This is my truthful opinion.

So sad when you visit a friend there that there is no staff around. They say they are always busy at other houses. Where is the concern and caring? Certainly not at Sitrin. Very very sad to see. As we age we should be respected . That doesn’t happen there.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Mother was at Sitrin for about 5 months in 2014. Terrible experience. Nobody knows what's going on so trying to get anything done is impossible. The times I asked for help I got answers like "We can't provide PT" "That's not my job, go ask..." Then the next person wouldn't know either. For example, they provided her with a broken walker upon her arrival and it took 11 days and a phone call or visit everyday to get it fixed. The head of nursing is rude, and has told me several untrue things when she tries to worm her way out of things (like the walker issue.) I asked for over a month to get a chair put next to a phone and it never happened; in fact there was one for a while, but they took it out! I asked for an alarm on her bed and was told "Our equipment doesn't work right, it's too sensitive." After denying she said that the director of nursing said "It's too complicated for the staff to turn on and off." Then I got something about it being wireless and it was just too difficult. The food isn't fit for human consumption; even something simple like providing whole grain bread instead of bleached flour bread was too big a request. I'd bring food in for my Mother that she liked and as told I placed it in the refrigerator with her name on it, and nobody ever served it to her. The staff members quit so frequently that there were new aides in there every week. I could go on, but I think you get the picture. The bright spots: the facility has beautiful, well kept lawns and many trees, the buildings are rather new, and my Mother's room was very nice. Some of the aides and on-duty nurses were absolutely wonderful, but they weren't around much because of the staff turn-over. We had to move Mom to another facility because of the neglect, lack of attention to detail and the impossibility of getting any help from the social worker or Director of Nursing. What a shame.

The physical/ occupational departments are great, amazing. The nursing department- sinful! absolutely terrible. My grandmother was transfered here from st. Luke's hospital after hip surgery for rehab. After about 24 hours a pressure sore was present on the heel of the side of surgery. Completely preventable. Laziness. Staff that didn't give 2 craps. Even taking like they know what's going on. Little did they know our family is the medical field and saw through the bs. Director of nursing colleen tuttle never returned a call. Neglected. Every aspect. Even the simple things like meals- brought to a table without glasses or dentures. Repeatedly. Rude 'nurses'. Cnas that do not know how to properly use slide boards. (Non weight bearing, kind of defeats the point when they are standing!). Expired 'breeze juice' boxes in room fridge. Can put floor mat on top of urine on floor next to bed. Disgusting. Nurses very unprofessional, the simplest of tasks done incorrectly. Or not completed at all, ie- dressing changes. Unsanitary technique used frequently. Terrible food, grams dog wouldn't touch it. That's saying a lot. There is so much more that happened in the 1 - 2 weeks of my grams unfortunate stay here better we had her transfored. We felt like one out us had to be there 24/7. We even stayed overnight there. Couldn't trust anyone to do there. 'Job'. They all pretend to, but the care is pathetic. And it's roots seem to be deep. These days it's a blessing to he medically inclined. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom has Multiple Sclerosis. At one point, after a stay in the hospital that left her weakened, she was forced to stay at Sitrin for rehabilitation purposes, because my siblings and I weren't able to provide enough care for her (we were in school still). My mom disliked her stay at this facility, preferring to be in her own home. Although the physical and occupational therapy teams were both excellent, her living conditions weren't the best. Sitrin provided her with a small- to mid-size room that she had to share with another woman. She disliked the room because they kept the heat turned up high, which can be very uncomfortable for people with MS. She was much younger than the other residents. The activities were geared toward older people, so she didn't have any interest in them. Most of the time, when she wasn't in physical or occupational therapy, she was forced to sit around and watch television. The food was a little better than hospital food, but not by much. It didn't have much flavor, and she didn't have much of a selection. I would visit her every day, bringing food she would eat and sitting with her to pass the time. Her bed was very uncomfortable, causing her to lose sleep. She had to be helped out of it every day because it was somewhat high up. The aides did their job decently, but some were rude to her. All in all I can say that this is an average facility for living, with an excellent rehabilitation/therapy program that somewhat makes up for the living conditions. My mom was much younger that a lot of the other residents, which may have played into her dislike of living there.
