What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?

Accepted Answer

Our staff is required to complete 12 hours of mandatory training annually. In addition to that, staff receive training on working with Residents with dementia or Alzheimer's, Residents that are on Hospice services, and receive one on one training with a licensed nurse. Training with our nurses includes reviewing the resident personal service plan and the safest and most effective way to implement it in the home.

How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?

Accepted Answer

We have 1 awake staff on shift at all times. New Mexico State regulations require 1 awake staff for every 15 residents, at Mariposa Senior Care we keep our occupancy limit to 10 residents per home to ensure safety and quality care.

At Mariposa Senior Care we take a holistic approach for our Residents well being. We believe a positive environment with nutritious meals is a great way to start things off. We offer daily activities to help with cognition, fine motor skills, and socialization.

At Mariposa Senior Care we have residents in their 70s, 80s, and 90s.  We hand tailor activities to meet the need of specific residents, a few of the activities we provide are game nights, movie nights, arts and crafts, book clubs, and gardening clubs!

We do not offer transportation at this time.

Accepted Answer

We are located in a residential neighborhood in the North East Heights. Our home is is in a safe and well established neighborhood that is walking distance to golf courses, parks, Whole Foods, and Starbucks.

What programs or activities does Mariposa Senior Care offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?

Accepted Answer

We offer board games, art activities, craft activities, and social hours. We encourage Residents to share stories, show photos of themselves or loved ones. We offer music therapy and play music through out the ages as this can be helpful with sparking old memories.

We are not affiliated at this time, we prefer to work with the hospital and providers that the Resident is comfortable and familiar with.

Accepted Answer

At Mariposa Senior Care we utilize the experience of certified nutritionists to assist us with our meal planning. We accommodate all diet types and staff are trained in the preparation of specialized diet constancies. We provide each home at Mariposa Senior Care with a large monthly food budget so quality items can be purchased for our Residents. We have menus planned monthly to ensure variety as well as freshness!

There are parks, golf courses, soccer fields, shopping, and a Starbucks located near by.

At Mariposa Senior Care, we utilize the training provided by the Alzheimer's Association, this provides in-depth training on how to care for, interact with, and how help residents with dementia thrive in their community.

At Mariposa Senior Care we pride ourselves on our commitment to communication. Staff are well trained on reporting and communicating to families and our nursing department. We provide 24 hour nursing support so staff feel they have the medical support needed to ensure client safety. Our nursing department is available to families to discuss changes in condition, assist with medication reviews, and to be a liaison between outside medical agencies if the family needs their assistance.

Mariposa Senior Care follows State regulations when it comes to staff to resident ratios. We have an awake staff on shift at all times and each Mariposa homes has a max occupancy of 12 Residents.

Accepted Answer

Utilizing a calm environment during meal times is one of the many steps we take to support meal times. Staff is available to sit at the table and assist each client as needed. Staff utilize their training from the Alzheimer's Association on how to keep a Resident engaged during meals.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Accepted Answer

Mariposa Senior Care requires that all Residents have a primary care provider before admission, this provides continued follow up and evaluation of medical conditions. A Mariposa Nurse will assess the Resident before admission and then every 6 months from there. A nurse assessment can be completed at any time there is a need.

At Mariposa Senior Care we notify family for any and all changes with their loved one. We encourage staff to develop a good working relationship with family so the line of communication is always open. Staff are trained to notify family for any changes of condition or if a incident happens in the home.

At Mariposa Senior Care security is always a main concern, all of our homes are located in beautiful and safe neighborhoods. Our exterior doors lock automatically and staff have to utilize a code or a key to open the door, this reduces the risk for elopement. All of our homes have exterior security cameras as well.

Our Mariposa Senior Care homes are secured facilities to prevent elopement from occurring. Our exterior exits lock automatically and a code or a key is needed for the door to be opened. Upon admission we identify residents that could be at risk for wandering and staff are trained to monitor these residents closely.
