"I spent a year and a half in Wyandotte at Bishop Co-op. I could not afford to live there anymore because my rent was going up by $400. Different insurance companies bring in traveling nurses and so on. While I was there, there were visiting nurses all the time. However, I didn't get involved with their bingo or their outings. I was not involved with activities. I brought in my own food, and I did my own cooking. The layout of the place was great. The problem was that they were having problems with the elevators. When I was moving out, they were in the middle of overhauling the elevators. Most of the residents could not walk up and down stairs, and they were very dependent on elevators. Before, it was run by HUD, and then it was switched over to the State of Michigan. The State of Michigan raised rates, so there were a lot of people who were independent living who could not live there anymore."

"I toured Riverview Towers Co-op. It was very informative. I was worried about the space. The kitchen is small. The other stuff is fine. They have a community room on each floor. They show me where you get mail and all that kind of stuff. The staff was very informative and answered my questions. The facility was great. They have benches and places to sit outside, as well as tables and stuff. I like that a lot. It's a great location because I can go to church right next to it, and Meijer, Kroger, and Walgreens are all right there, and we can walk home."

"I visited the American House Southgate's assisted living for my mother, and we have decided to have her move there. It was very nice, the staff was friendly, and it was very clean. They've also been extremely helpful in the entire process of us trying to get the apartment ready for my mom to move in. She will be moving into a two-bedroom apartment. The facility has a common dining room, a meeting hall, and an entertainment area in the lobby. On different floors, they have different community meeting places, a chapel, and a game room. We chose this place because of the location and the price. They were the most reasonably priced place for us."

"I toured Kamper Stevens, and it was a nice place. It had a nice-sized apartment, a nice amount of closet space, and a laundry room on each floor, which I liked. The staff was nice and answered all my questions, and the facility was clean."

"The Bellaire Senior Living's courtyard is very nice. There are lots of flowers and trees. It's very pretty. Their rooms were a little nicer than the other place. They're not quite so sterile or artificial. It seemed more homey. I like them. It was really nice there. The staff who gave the tour answered all our questions."

"I visited the independent living community of American House Dearborn Heights. The community was friendly, and there was a lot to do. I liked the layout of the independent living, and I liked how they had a choice for a meal plan. I like the layout of the rooms, and I was happy to see a washer and dryer. They also have a full kitchen, which is good. The person who gave the tour was friendly and knowledgeable. I also saw their dining area, and it was spacious and lovely."

"I toured the independent living community of American House Southland in Taylor. It's alright, but it's not where I want to live. I would like to go somewhere where people are doing stuff. I don't want to go and just sit there and get fat. The rooms were beautiful and very neat. It was very spacious, but it's not for me. I think I'm more independent, and it just didn't feel right. I felt like I was in a convalescent home. The person who gave the tour was very nice. She gave a lot of information, and she wanted to know if I would be there for breakfast. The dining room was nice, and she said that they have breakfast and dinner there. They also have a little store that you could go in if you needed something real quick to make your own meals."

"American House Riverview was nice. It's the independent living that I'm trying to go into. There were residents in wheelchairs and residents walking around. It's clean. The staff who assisted me was a nice lady. I called last minute, and she was able to squeeze me in a time to accommodate me. She told me beforehand that there were people that she would be assisting on a tour already, but she was able to give me a spot. The staff was able to answer my questions and give me a tour."

"My mother is a resident of Downriver Estates. It's a one-floor building. It's not very large. The building is older. They are currently renovating and giving it a refurbished look. The staff and employees are absolutely incredible. She's been there for three years and through COVID. I have not one complaint. They did everything they possibly could do to make the residents comfortable and for the families during COVID. They went way above and beyond. They have occupational and physical therapists there in the building, so you don't have to take people out offsite. They have a community room, and they do activities. They also have a lovely outdoor secured patio area. My mother always says the food is good, and the variety is pretty impressive."

"I toured Atria Kinghaven. I'd probably go there if my house would have sold because I liked everything about the place. Everybody was so friendly. I liked the apartment they have with a balcony. I liked it because I could take my cats. The physical condition is excellent. The cleanliness is very good. I didn't see anything that was kind of out of order. They do a really good job there. I had lunch there and their food was OK."
