"I live in StoryPoint Granger. I came here with my husband who had Alzheimer's. I needed to have some place to take care of him as his disease was progressing and he was getting worse. The deal was that they would let me keep him unless something happened that I was no longer able to care for him or it wasn't safe for him to be in an apartment. They have two different levels of care. On the assisted living side where we were living, they provide meals and some help with cleaning and laundry, so that my job was just to take care of him. They came in and gave him a shower and helped dress him and do the things he needed more help with. Each time you go to another level of care, the cost goes up, but that is to be expected. They helped us with his care and had him in our apartment until he passed, and I was very grateful for that. He was with hospice care for the last six weeks, and we still had him in the same apartment. We had a big enough apartment to keep our bed and put a hospital bed in the bedroom. Another thing I like about this place is the people welcomed us and we quickly made friends because we eat together and there are activities. We mainly went to musical ones. I am 81 years old, and I have activities I can choose to do, and things I can do in my apartment. I brought a sewing machine and that keeps me busy. I'm staying because people are friendly here, and there are enough activities to choose from. I am still in the assisted living part, but living independently. I did not have to move apartments. My husband had progressed to where I could not leave him at home alone, but here, I could leave him for an hour and run an errand. With the help of staff and hospice, we could keep him in the same apartment. I was afraid to come back into the apartment after he passed, but after they removed the hospital bed, I was OK. They bring the meals up to you when you request. We have a mailroom, a library with a fireplace, and a country kitchen. They have a monthly special lunch. They have a good-sized dining room where they have three meals a day and a big activity room where they play bingo and every day there's something going on. A lot of the crafts here are made for the general population that are being assisted. Each level gives you a lot more care, but they charge a little more. The first floor has a nice lobby and a fireplace. It's not a wood burning, so it's safe. The second floor has a sunroom and it's got a table and chairs for puzzles and a beauty shop. I have my hair done there once a month. There is a physical therapy room and physical therapists that work right here and other therapies available. On the third floor, there is a billiard room. There is a sidewalk around the building and a pond. We used to walk there daily when he was able. The staff is good, but they have a problem keeping them. They had the best food of any of them that we looked at. The facility is very nice and clean. It passes the sniff test. They just redid the first floor and they repaint and recarpet the apartment before you move in, and they had cleaned the carpet here once for me. They come in once a week and vacuum and all that stuff. It is a good value for your money, but it is higher than other places charge. It's worth it because the amenities are nice."
