I had come into this facility never having experience of working in this type of facility before. I was having trouble finding a place to do my Social Work internship and finally had found this place who had a Social Worker who would allow me to work with her. First I was a little scared of coming into Larson Hall, not knowing what to expect. However, within a short time I had come to LOVE this place. The residents and staff became family to me, which was especially helpful at this time since I had just moved to a new home and town and my parents were 200 miles away while my dad was having surgery and in recovery and rehab. So I was feeling quit lost and Larson Hall filled what I was missing in my life. I would spend hours after work talking, visiting and spending time with the residents after my shift was over. The residents had nothing but good things to say about Larson Hall. There was even waiting lists to be able to enter the facility. The staff is well qualified having two RN's on staff at all times, and registered CNEA's to help care for the residents at all times as well. The residents have a choice of food to pick from everyday and are giving a menu each morning to decide what they would like to eat the next day. Wellness meetings take place every quarter with each resident and their family to discuss, if they are happy, if there is anything that is bothering them, if there is anything they would like to see changed or even what they think of the food. Larson Hall even has their own Resident's committee which helps decide what kind of food they would like to see on a weekly basis and also what kind of activities and outing they would like to see implemented. This Nursing home, not only gives great care but also allows the residents to be part of their care, and help chose what goes on in their housing facility.
