"I thought the tour I had at Golden Rose Personal Care Home was very pleasant. The director was excellent with the information that she provided and how they operate. The facility was very clean, and it gave a very homey feeling. I enjoyed it. The dining area was inviting and cozy at the same time. The rooms just looked like the most comfortable place to be. The director was informative with the tour. She actually provided me some information, as far as what to look for in trying to make a decision with my father and what to expect. She was telling me about the price range, and she was really patient with me. She even asked if I had any other questions or concerns about anything because she had been in the field for so long. She was happy to help out. I like the setup. The residents were in the entertainment areas, and they were all engaged. They had an outdoor area and several of the residents were outside and talking to each other."

"I visited the memory care facility of Regal Pointe at East Cobb. They are good at listening, but quite salesy. When we were at this other place we were also touring, the person there knew a lot of the names of the people and asked somebody questions like have they drank water, and then asked somebody on the staff to get them water. As we're touring this place, though, we saw somebody there standing, nobody was with her, her mouth hung open, but the person we were touring with didn't say hi or address her. He said excuse me and walked around her and then closed the door. He told me sorry and that he had to close the door because she might come in. This is a person who knows who she is, so that didn't feel great to me. He really listened to me and talked about how he got into this because of his own parents. However, after we toured the rest of the facility, and as we were going into the memory care, he said, "This is going to be really sad". I feel like that's how he sees it, and projecting it like that felt like he didn't respect the people who were in that wing. The room size was fine, but I think my biggest concern was that there was an overpowering smell of urine. I would expect that there'll be some urine in some places, especially since it's lunch and on a memory care wing where there's going to be a lot more incontinence. Other than that, the dining area looks satisfactory, and the parking was easy. I would say that on the assisted living side, it was clean with interesting facilities and activities. However, the memory care side was just depressing. My grandparents were in a nursing home through my teen years, and I'm not usually one to say I was triggered by something, but I was triggered by something there. I came home and literally sat in a chair for a while."

"It was incredible, and it's a beautiful place. It seemed like a happy place, and residents and staff seemed friendly and pleasant. They have 1-bedrooms and 2-bedrooms, and they were all pretty excellent. They have a laundry facility that the residents could use if they wanted to, a really pretty dining room, a library area, a room where people could watch movies, play games, or even work out, and a courtyard with benches all over. The residents can have pets, and I think that's amazingly cool. They were cooking that time, and the food smelled delicious. They had an area in the dining room where they had snacks, there was a popcorn machine, and people could cruise through there and get stuff. "

"I toured Canterfield of Kennesaw in person. It was very nice and very clean. They had a lot of activities. People looked happy there. The staff who accommodated me was very friendly and easy to communicate with. They had several amenities also. They had a beauty salon, a movie area, and a pool outside. Everything was beautiful. It was very well maintained. They had very nice dining areas. One was casual and one was more formal."

"Kennesaw Village was small but was very nice. The room they showed us for Mom was also fairly small, and at the time it would have been OK because she's not mobile. Chloe showed us around and she was very helpful. The dining area was really nice. As soon as you come into the foyer, it's right there. It's a nice set up, and then they had the menu posted where you can read it. They showed us the activity room and different things that they have set up for the people there. They had a little van so they could take the people if they needed to run and purchase things. I also met the nurse. Even though they found out that we wouldn't be staying, they still spoke with us and told us about the facility. To me, the facility looked like it was remodeled. They had hardwood floors and everything like that. We would have to bring our stuff there. They didn't have the items there for you. You will bring your own, like a bed and a chair."

"I investigated several facilities as we neared the end of Skilled Nursing, met most with great angst about the fit for my mother, and then found Woodland Ridge (WR). They made my ulcer go away. I was very comfortable with the introduction and information I received, the caregivers I met, and the environment for my mother. The WR team that went to the Skilled Nursing facility to evaluate Mom also received rave reviews for their thoroughness, warmth, and professionalism from my mother’s nurses there. (Some others did not.) Now that “we” have been at WR for a while, I can honestly say it is where I would choose to be for me if I were in the same situation as my mother. The staff is excellent in terms of their abilities, attention to needs, active care, understanding of residents, and communication with family. They seem very cohesive. I have not seen turnover, and most have been there for quite a long time. They have levels of care, and so can meet changing needs of most residents. Overall, they seem to run a tight ship (which I appreciate) with warmth and a supportive community spirit. My father and I have developed a strong communicative relationship with the caregivers there, so we feel well-connected with all aspects of my mother's needs. No, it’s not “home” and not the path we had planned. This is hard on all of us. But, WR has helped us manage this as well as we can, and we sleep well at night because we have complete confidence that my mother is cared for and supported when we are not there. "

"I have placed my sister here. It is the best that I have seen anywhere. It is a clean facility. It is a nice location. The staff is nice. The dining room is nice. They have outdoor cookout. Because they are clean, there is no urine odor. It is just a nice place. It also looks better than the other place I go to. The staff is nice. They are courteous to me and to her. They have the room redecorated for her. They are being good to her so far. "

"Mom moved into Peachtree Creek Memory Care. What I like most about it is that I have not seen any worker who didn't go above and beyond their call of duty. They treat those people over there like they are kings and queens. It's a small place, but it seems good, and my mother hardly had any time. They were so good to her. We like her room, it's just a small room, but there's room for everything she needs. My mother has had nothing to say but good about their food. She says they're real good about giving them soft stuff which is good for the elderly, and even cutting it up for them. They make sure they drink enough. She has said a lot of good things about them."

"I met with a woman named Michelle at Bellevue Village at Neese Road and she was phenomenal. She was very kind and empathetic, but not overly. She gave me the tour and the facility is very clean. The staff was interacting with the residents. It was very nice. Now they're under renovation and it's their memory care area that was getting it, but I can look ahead and see what their vision is and I think it'll be very nice when they're done. They had a very open dining area and it seemed to accommodate activities as well, which is a good thing, because then you have a lot more activities going on. They had a courtyard that was very nicely fenced. It had large trees beyond that. So, it gave a feeling of being kind of in the country or outdoorsy, which is something my husband needs. It has a nice little walkway. Everything seemed very secure. Their menus looked very good. There were a lot of smiling faces when we were there. Everybody spoke to me and they would excuse themselves. Like if they were talking to a resident, they would tell them first that they were going to talk to me. I thought that was a nice touch."

"This community was a wonderful place for my parents if only it was on their price range. It was a larger community compared to where they lived. They had a very strong memory care program and even residents who were not part of the program could participate. There were a lot of activities and a more active community activity calendar. I did not try the food but as I looked at the menu and the amount of options per meal, it looked wonderful. "

"Although it was really nice, it was not convenient for my children to visit their grandmother while we were away. It's just out of the area. They made us feel very welcome there. We had made arrangements ahead of time, and they greeted us. They had mom's name on the board, so it was really a nice, warm feeling that you got when you went in there. The tour and room were very nice. They talked to mom separately about her likes, and somebody else talked to my husband and me at the same time. They presented all of the things they have to do there. "

"The Mann House was a smaller facility. Everyone who worked there had worked 15 years plus. It was a 25-room facility, and it wouldn't remind you of a hospital. "I toured The Georgian Lakeside. I liked that it's friendly, and it's all kept up. What I didn't realize is that they have a rule that if two people can't get you up, then you can't stay there. I'm 300 pounds, and probably two people couldn't get me up unless they had bigger people. They have nice amenities. They have a balcony that overlooks the lake, which is a beautiful place to sit. They have game rooms. They have an area where you can entertain guests, set the tables, and have treats. I would say they could be the best, but there's one other thing that wouldn't work for me, and that is I still like to go to a restaurant to eat once in a while. The facility is on a road that speed limit is 55 miles an hour, it has four lanes, and there are no stoplights that you can enter the traffic with. So, I would feel unsafe driving a car out of a facility. Otherwise, it was a good facility, and the place was in good shape."
