"We chose Peninsula Reflections. I liked the place. It was very nice. The room was big and a single for my partner. I felt warm when we went there and talked to the people. The staff seemed very nice and knowledgeable. They knew what they were doing, especially the one in the admin who was very friendly and made my partner feel good. The menu looked OK; however, my partner needed everything blended. They had a big room for activities with a big TV. They had karaoke and other singers who came by to sing. The residents seemed to enjoy that. They had a quiet room, which was a small room with a TV. They seemed very cooperative. When you asked something, they were willing to help you. They had a doctor who seemed very nice."

"My sister moved in. It's very good, there were a couple of minor things, but that would not affect the rating of the facility, and she seems to be happy there. The staff is wonderful and very attentive, and the nurses are wonderful, very nice, and very thorough. It's very clean, great, cheerful, a lot of open natural light throughout the facility, and they do lots of events. They take them out of excursions, drives, and they went to the pumpkin patch a couple of times."

"We toured Atria at Foster Square, it was comparable to the other places I toured in the area. They have activities like swimming and card games. Their rooms were the same size as the other community I saw, but overall, they're more affordable. I met one staff member who took us around on the tour and he was knowledgeable."

"It was probably our second choice, but they did not have a walk-in shower in the rooms, which my dad needs. Otherwise, I would recommend the place. The staff was very friendly, eager to take care of the residents, and made sure everybody participated and got out of their rooms. They had an activity room, exercise therapy, library, and a common room for TV and gatherings. "

"It was wonderful. I thought it was really lovely. I would love for my mother to stay there. The person who took me on a tour was lovely and very accommodating. I was very impressed with the look of the place. I liked how beautiful it was. There were people in the lobby with someone, I thought from the rescue foundation, because there was a dog, and they were enjoying that. It just had a really good feel about it. There was a very good sized one-bedroom apartment, and it was very lovely. It was something I wouldn't expect an assisted living place to be that nice. It looked like they had a lot of good stuff going on. "

"My brother moved to Buena Vista Manor House. Location is important to us and so we chose that place because it is centrally located for our family in San Francisco. It's an intimate facility. It's not too big and everybody seems to be very nice and accommodating. My brother seems to be getting along very nicely there and the people have been open to his disability and trying to work with that. They provide three meals a day. I had lunch the other day when my brother had some food and it was good. It was a cold lunch for me. I didn't have a hot meal, but they have nice proportions, and a varied menu, and they give you a balanced meal. There's protein, fruit, and liquids. They should have some area though, where you could have water or coffee if you want, like a little side station where during the day, residents/visitors could have a cup of coffee or some iced water or snacks. Pretty much the kitchen's only open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's no overflow of snacks or anything. They have daily activities for the residents and I see people participating and having a good time with that. My brother is in a small room that gets cleaned every week. They do laundry service and they distribute his medicines, but there's no nursing care, and that's one negative."

"Coterie Cathedral Hill Memory Care was the perfect place for my sister. My highest praise goes to the director Christina and to each member of the staff for their skillful and competent care for each resident as an individual. Daily I observed how much they truly cared for not only the residents but also their families. My family and I learned to understand better what was happening with my sister who was diagnosed with dementia and learned how to better respond to her. Monthly support group provided helpful advice and experience sharing. Daily activities were carefully planned to be fun, engaging and appropriate. Meals were delicious and inviting. I will always be grateful to everyone at Coterie Memory Care for making my sister happy and most of all for making her feel at home.."

"Sagebrook Senior Living is beautiful. I love it. It's just a bit too steep. They want $6,800 without the care, and that's kind of a bit too much for our income. The community is great. The view was fantastic. The accommodations were great. The staff was very nice and very helpful. The dining area was lovely. It had a piano and everything. It was really nice. I have nothing bad to say about it. We had lunch, and it was good. It looked like their families were there, so they were chatting and associating with their families, and then they went outside. It is old, and they're still doing construction."

"We looked here. We love this place. We live in San Francisco, so it was perfect. The nice thing about it is the location for us. I can get there like in 20 minutes driving. The location is very good. It is an urban environment, but you don't feel like it when you go in. It's very nice. It doesn't feel small, but it is nice. The staff who welcomed us was fine. He was very straightforward. We went in there interested in the below-market rate program that they have there. They have a medical part too, so that was something attractive for us. They have a little outdoor place where you can go sit. It is surrounded by the buildings so there's no chance you can get out without somebody knowing because it is sort of within."

"Aldersly Retirement was light and airy. The apartments were garden-style, not in a high-rise building. The garden area was first class. The food was very good. I sat with five other men, who love it there."

"Oakmont of Redwood City was fine. I have no complaints. The staff during the tour was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and gave us a good tour. I was pleased with the dining room, and I was pleased with the bedroom I looked at. I don't think I saw any activities there. I walked around and I saw their library, movie theater, fitness center, art studio, and dining room. I wasn't overly impressed with any of it, but they were all there. This week, they're having a banquet, so it won't be a really fair assessment of their food."

"I liked the Elders Inn but the only problem is that it's a little bit high in price for me. I'd go there twice a week for therapy. It's a nice, quiet place and the people are very nice. They're well kept, well dressed and seems to be upper income. The rooms were nice, the waiting room and the people are very nice. It's a very comfortable place, the area that I saw was immaculately clean. They have a very good facility for rehab, too. I would have no problem if I had to go in there. "

"Oakmont is a new facility. They are hiring new staff and make it very challenging for the adjustment. The biggest plus has been the social connection for my mother with other people. They have regular outings to locations, gone to an ice cream parlor, and gone to the San Francisco walk for lunch, and there’s regular shopping trips. There was recently a Hawaiian dancers brought in from a local halal. There’s activity calendar posted daily; sometimes there’s cooking, art projects, painting, and puzzles, and they are starting a reading book club. I haven’t seen their full potential, but I am expecting them to move towards a 5 star. "
