I visited this facility

The facilities at Autumn Glen at Dartmouth were lovely. The food was fantastic. I had a lobster roll. They were very up-to-date on all the rules and regulations. I just didn't feel like they would be able to take care of my husband who has Parkinson's becoming more and more bedridden. I didn't think they quite have the facilities for that, but I liked the people. I liked the atmosphere. The rooms were gorgeous. I've seen a library, and there were a couple of people in there reading and doing puzzles. They have studios, one bedrooms, and two bedrooms. They had assisted living, but they don't have that next step, which goes on into what nursing homes have. What impressed me at Autumn Glen is they have a dentist that comes in. They didn't have quite what I was looking for except for the dentist. The surroundings were lovely. They were great. I was there when they had lunch and there was somebody being unloaded as I went in. That person could hardly wait to get to lunch because he didn't want to miss the good food, and all the people cheered that he was back and patted him on the back. It was like a homecoming, but he was there for the food. I'll take his word for it. They did not have pureed food, but they had a source for it.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We have my mother-in-law in Autumn Glen at Dartmouth. We found the environment to be inviting, and the people seemed to be friendly. The hairstylist is there like once a week. They get their nails done. They have the ability for transporting my mother-in-law to her doctor's appointments. They have a large activity room. They do bingo, they do bowling, they do memory games, and they do like recollection activities like recalling things from the past. They'll have ice cream socials, and they do crafts.

My mom is at Autumn Glen at Dartmouth. They come in and clean her room once a week and do her laundry. I didn't see much activity, but they have one room that they do exercise in and a nice patio outside. They had an outing once that mom went on. They took a ride to Mattapoisett on their little bus, and that was the only time I know that she's been out. The food is good. Every Wednesday, they have an outside barbecue. They served hamburgers, hot dogs, and salads. However, one of the assistants had to be reprimanded, because she was being condescending to my mom when she had an accident. Other than that, the other people in the community are very nice.

I visited this facility

We have seen Autumn Glen at Dartmouth a few times, and that's where my mom will be staying. The staff is extremely friendly and the place is extremely clean. We have a mentally challenged sister that's going to be staying there as well, besides my mother, and they were also very accommodating to her. Their prices are average for this area. The residents seemed happy and the assisted living was really nice, because you can get in and out easily. Everything was secure, and every room was very clean. They gave us some little cake ball things that we took home, and they were delicious. The layout is pretty nice too. They're in the middle of constructing a coffee shop, so it's a little bit askew, but when that's done, that'll be really nice.

My grandparents both lived at Autumn Glen. From the housekeepers to the management, everyone there truly cares and they went above and beyond for my grandparents. They gave us an extra bed when my grandfather needed his own bed, their staff visited him in rehab when he was sick, they brought him treats and even brought my grandmother to visit him. My grandparents and my entire family were treated like family there by everyone. Autumn Glen was a godsend to our family.

I visited this facility

Autumn Glen at Dartmouth provides meals. It was good and had a good spokesperson. It was very comfortable, although it was a little bit larger than what we had anticipated, so unfortunately there's a lot more walking. There were elevators up to upper floors, but some of the rooms were a good distance away. The staff was very nice and pleasant, and the services appeared to be OK. They have trips and bus tours, and they provide transportation to doctors. They have a nurse practitioner on the staff most of the time. The facilities were very clean and almost new. It was in a good area and in a nice location. The setting was a very nice, into the woods kind of deal.

My family cannot say enough good things about Autumn Glen. We moved from another community in the Dartmouth area to Autumn Glen and are very pleased. From the dining staff to the CNA's they are beyond what we hoped for. Its like a little family here. When we visit everyone is so friendly and everyone knows everyone and my parents are getting the help they need. They were beyond resistant at first and with a bad experience at another facility that didn't help and now are beyond happy they are in their new home. They are also busy now which and have no time for us, which we love!!

The memory care of Autumn Glen at Dartmouth is not very good at all and leaves my mother alone. She has been there for a month and has fallen four times because they leave her in her room by herself. She’s never fallen before. Their opinion is that they do what the resident wants instead of what the family wants. We’ve asked them not to leave her alone because she has dementia and is not capable of making good decisions. They said their responsibility is to the patient and if she wants to be in the room by herself, then that’s what they’re going to do. They’re not going to listen to us. My dad is not very happy in the independent living side either. He’s not happy with the level of privacy. They know he has a telephone and instead of calling him when there’s a problem with my mom, they walk in the room. A couple of times, they walked right into the toilet while he’s in the bathroom. The rooms are beautiful and is hands above every other place. It’s very attractive. The location is beautiful and tucked way back in the woods. That part of it is incredible. It’s very easy to get to and very accessible. It’s a beautiful building but very expensive.

We moved our Grandfather to Autumn Glen 10 months ago. It's the best place we could have found for him. We looked around at several local assisted livings but Autumn Glen seemed the most home like and the staff were so sincere and warm. You felt like everyone was legitimately happy there and that's what really sold us. The staff are caring, genuine, and go out of their way to make everyone feel at home. Grandpa is safe, he's happy, engaged and when we ask him how everything is there, he always tells us "they treat me so good! I have everything I need". Trust me, there's no better feeling than that. Everyone from the Director to the receptionists are responsive, respectful and professional. The food is great, the activities are fun and they have something for everyone, and the nurse staff are caring and compassionate. I truly believe Grandpa is happy & doing as well as he is because of Autumn Glen & everything they provide him.

Autumn Glen at Dartmouth is a great place. My parents are in a 2-bedroom apartment. The people are great and the food is great -- everything about the place is great. I like the cleanliness and the service they provide to my parents. I like the people providing the service; they are always in contact and they take care of any matters or issues. There's a lot of activities like Bridge, Backgammon, Shuffleboard, singers coming in weekly, and lunch outings. Everybody who works there knows every resident by first and last name.

I visited this facility

I found Autumn Glen probably a little smaller in their units, but other than that it was bright, cheery, and seems to have a lot of activities. You don’t have separate cabins or homes. You’re in a building, and that is pretty much true. I have very good reports about the facility; people who have been there enjoyed it.

Someone gave me a call and set up an appointment for Autumn Glen. The staff wasn't bad but I wouldn't put it on my list. It's like a small hotel, maybe three floors. It was good but I wasn't really impressed. They also have activities to occupy their residents. They got this veterans corner, they treat the veterans with respect and celebrate each veteran's birthday and I thought it was very nice being a veteran myself.
