I went to look at D'Youville Life & Wellness Community. There were only 56 clients, so they only had 56 rooms. There's a five-year wait. It's small, and there's not a lot of activity. The staff who gave me the tour was wonderful. She walked me around all the common areas. I looked at a one-bedroom apartment. The facility is very old. I like to be in a more modern place. Everything was ancient, so it wasn't for me. They had a card room. The location is good for a lot of people.

Patient experiences witnessed: Patient goes all day with no liquids while already dehydrated. Patient has to pee bed as no one answers call button. Patient lays crying on floor as no one answers bed alarm. Not able to find a nurse. No one at the front dek.

My mother is in D'Youville Life & Wellness Community. We chose it because they have a memory center, and it was well kept. It's everything that I wanted, and then it's probably a little bit more. Everyone's attending to her. There's a doctor and a nurse right there. The nutritionist called me and reviewed every detail, but I haven't seen any of the food. They have a whole whiteboard of activities every day. She can pick what time she wants to do math, music, or whatever. They have different rooms, such as an activity room and a sensory room. They have a mass, a hair salon, and an outdoor balcony. It's really nice. They have everything.

My husband is on a waiting list at D'Youville. It's lovely, the memory unit is fabulous, and it's clean. There's a bustle of activities, and the staff has 15-20 years of working there. You walked in, they immediately say hello to you, and the receptionist was wonderful. It's alive, caring, and just like home.
