The Atrium at Drum Hill is a well-designed and well-kept facility. The staff who I met were all very polite and looked to be very efficient. It appears to be a comfortable environment, one which I'm happy to entrust my mother to.

I went to The Atrium at Drum Hill. The staff were out and about. The rooms are very nice. The only thing I didn't like about this one was it was one huge room, and they just had people sitting around in a circle there. It could have just been an off time where they weren't doing anything. They were just sitting. The dining room was very nice. The outdoor space was beautiful. The lady who was taking us around was very nice. They were very clean. I liked them.

We have planned to choose The Atrium at Drum Hill for my dad. The facility was laid out on two separate sides, and one of the sides had just recently been refurbished. It's a large, spacious area where people could gather together in the center. As far as the dining there, there were no set hours. So whenever the resident wants to go grab a bite to eat or something, they could just go. So that was pretty nice. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, it was all on one floor, on the main ground. There were activity areas where they could watch movies, you could go out to a really nice garden area. I thought that was a nice benefit to have there. The person that toured me was Nancy, and she was an angel. She was fantastic, she was constantly checking in on us with whatever our needs were, or however she could accommodate us. She said that anytime anyone in my family wanted to tour, to send them right out. When my dad was in the hospital, she came to the hospital and brought my mom dinner, and brought my dad his last dinner. She brought him meatloaf which he loved, she was just a really super, super person. You can tell that she cared about her work and what she does, and they're lucky to have her there. I was impressed with the fact that they had the dining area always open, and they weren't confined to a set schedule. When I walked in the door, they greeted me with chocolate chip cookies, and my dad loved them. They had an in-house salon and barbershop. They tried to set it up so the residents didn't have the need to go anywhere and they could take care of a lot of their needs right there. I thought that was wonderful too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mom lived at the Atrium at Drum Hill for more than five years. She passed away last October. She had Alzheimer’s and or vascular dementia that progressed from relatively mild to pretty debilitating during those five years. During all that time the staff at the Atrium treated her with respect and dignity for which she and I were always grateful. At the same time my Mom was at the Atrium I was also caring for my wife who has Alzheimer’s. Her condition has also progressed during those five years the Atrium was helping me with my Mom. I had my wife in a day care program and after I would drop her off, I’d visit with my Mom. I’d watch how the staff would care for the residents and how they handled difficult situations. I was grateful for the examples and tips I learned from them and I did my best to put in to practice at home with my Wife. I was quite lucky in that respect. While the illness progressed in my Mom, it also progressed in my wife. After my Mom passed away, the toll of 24/7 care for my wife became too difficult for just me alone. My wife had entered the Atrium Day Care program the year before with good results. But this illness is just so cruel. The time had come for her to have full time care I could not provide. My experience and confidence in the staff of the Atrium made it an easy call to move my wife in this past April. She has been there since. I have not been disappointed… The staff has shown my wife the same great respect and care as they did for my Mom. And my wife is a much more difficult case to handle than my Mom was. I whole hardily recommend the Atrium if you are struggling with a loved one suffering from dementia. And I more than willing to answer or share any of my thoughts. BTW - My Mom always raved about the food

Moving my dad into a facility was not an easy decision! The staff were wonderful with assisting with the process and made us feel confident we were making the right decision. The room was clean, bright and well furnished. We were able to buy the furniture and bring in any electronic to make him feel comfortable. My dad loves going out into their courtyard to water flowers or sit with friends. The staff has activities to keep him engaged a couple times a day and provide 3 meals a day. I love how he has other friends to eat with and stay engaged with during this transition period. My family and I could not be happier with choosing the Atrium!

We went to look at The Atrium at Drum Hill. It was amazing but quite expensive. I wouldn't call the rooms spacious, but they're not tiny either. We looked at a room where my brother-in-law would have a roommate. It would certainly accommodate his bed, TV, and a couple of other things. They have a big entertainment room, an art room, a small theater, and beautiful patios on both wings of the building. It's all fenced in, so the residents can go out at any time and sit on the patios. It had beautiful flowers and a vegetable garden. We only met a few members of the staff. Nancy was high up on the ladder, and she was amazing. The few other people that we met were very friendly and welcoming. It's a great facility, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to the folks.

I toured The Atrium at Drum Hill. The place was nice. They had activities for the people. When I was there, there was somebody there playing a musical instrument, and they were singing. I just thought it was nice. They had a nice little dining area where people could get to know each other. Everybody seemed happy. The staff were nice people. I could see that they were helping the patients there. I liked that it's not a very huge community, but they seem like they're caring and will go out of their way to help.

The Atrium at Drum Hill was wonderful. I have not had anyone in there, but I did take a tour of it, and I met with the staff. This was not the place for my significant other at that time, but I had to see it. I know it has a good reputation, but it was not the level he needed. It was a little higher level for Alzheimer's patients, but it's wonderful. I visited a respite room. The community that they deal with, I think, they do a great job. I was very impressed. Some residents were more independent, of course, but I think the primary residency is skilled nursing people. We saw more patients that were in wheelchairs and were kind of out of it. They were so well taken care of. The facility was immaculate. The staff is just wonderful. They were doing a great job. They do the best they can with the community they're working with. They're constantly stimulating them. I don't think it's highly expensive. I think it's within the realm of what everybody else charges. I observed good care for the residents. I saw attentiveness and I saw caring. Overall, it was a good feeling. I was there just to see if this is the right place for respite, but it wasn't for him. It was just a very clean, neat, wonderful, and compassionate place. My observation was all good. I saw the community, and they were there in a big room in an activity singing and then the staff was there with them. It was wonderful. It was very good. It's a beautiful location, and it's easy parking. It's got plenty of land around them. It's perfect, it's great. It's not in a congested area.

We've chosen The Atrium at Drum Hill for my mother. It was a well-laid-out facility. The people there were nice. They appeared to cater to memory care, and my mother has dementia. She's been there for three weeks. I like them. She said the food was good, it's fine. They have music. They have group activities where they play games, different kinds of games like throwing balls, a little bit of physical activity, batting around balloons and things like that.

I went to The Atrium at Drum Hill. It was very nice, but it was more geared toward people with more advanced memory problems than what we have. It was a lovely place, but not for us. The rooms were very, very nice. It was like a little studio apartment, very sunny, and it was very nice with a little bathroom. The staff was very friendly and very, very nice. Everything was very good. I would highly recommend it to someone that needed it at that stage of their lives for sure. Everybody was friendly. The staff seemed motivated, and the people were smiling. Everybody was very caring. The room that they showed was empty, but it was nice, sunny, and bright, like a little studio apartment. Mostly, the people seemed friendly, homey, and just really nice people. Because of the pandemic, I didn't see much. They set me off and talked to the director for a while and then he showed me a spare room. I got to meet a couple of the staff members that he brought in to say hello, but I really didn't get to tour or anything given the current situation and pandemic, so it's a little different for me. I just saw one big room with a piano and things like that. I really didn't tour the whole place, but everyone I've met all looked pleasant.

The Atrium at Drum Hill is a really wonderful place. My father had lived there himself, so I really wanted my husband to go there because they give excellent care. Unfortunately, my husband was rejected by them, because his care was going to be too much, but they checked him out a couple of times to see if they could take him. The staff was excellent. I can't say any more than that they were my first choice. The person who accommodated me was very helpful. I already knew what it was like having my father there for a few years. I sat with the admissions and the nurse, and they were very accommodating. The place is clean, the caregivers are always excellent, and very caring. They gave me a list of activities to keep the residents very active. I can't say any more good things about them; they're one of the best. The rooms were accommodating, nice, clean, and each resident has their own bathroom. It's very homey, and they have wonderful people there.

I had an interesting tour at The Atrium. It gave me an idea of what I really need to look for. It was a beautiful and well-designed community, like living in a hotel. The activity room was in the center and a very big area. Off of that were smaller activity areas. There are two different dining rooms and two patios. They also had areas for walking. The rooms were one-bedroom apartments or studios. There was ample room to move around. Each room was equipped with cable for personal television and telephone, and every room had its own bathroom. The bathrooms were very spacious and had a shower with a very short step to get in, so there's no climbing. The staff was excellent, very nice, and very cordial. They followed up to check on my brother and moved through the facility all the time to make sure that somebody doesn't need something. They take care of all the patients and laundry and cleaning.

The Atrium at Drum Hill was very nice. The rooms were clean, nice, and a little small, but I liked the shower system. The staff was very friendly and very caring with the patients. They gave me a bag of cookies, but I didn’t try the food.

The Atrium at Drum Hill was a very nice place. Our experience was positive. Because my aunt has the beginnings of dementia, we were looking at memory units. However, the thing about their memory unit was that it was a separate building from the regular assisted living. My aunt would probably have to move twice once things progressed.

The Atrium at Drum Hill was fine. It had a huge sunny gathering room; which I thought was good. Their dining-room seemed alright. It’s not a question that any of these places were bad or anything like that; the biggest problem I saw was just the cost factor.

The Atrium at Drum Hill was very knowledgeable about people that have Alzheimer's at different stages, and they were very forthcoming in what we can expect, but not pushing in any way for us to go their direction. They felt that my mother-in-law wasn't a good candidate for them, and they recommended other places, so I appreciated that. The people there were at advanced stages of memory loss. They don't have the apartment setups that some of the other assisted living facilities have. It was mainly like a hotel room with a bath. When we were there, they were in the middle of having a choral reading where people were reading together. They had art activities, and they also had recreational activities. The dining room looked nice, but I didn't see the food. They sat and talked with us for a long time, and that was really nice. I was impressed with the time they took with us.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for sharing. We take enormous pride in taking care of seniors throughout the aging experience. Please feel free to contact the Executive Director if we can ever be of service to you and your family.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The Atrium at Drum Hill was wonderful. The staff was fabulous. They were very caring and intuitive. The food was excellent. They tried to tailor the activities with the residents. If they found the resident to have a particular interest, they would try to have that. They had engineers, so they tried to do science projects. They did a lot. I was very happy with their services when my husband stayed there.
