"I have an aunt & uncle here at the Rumford Community Home. They are treated with respect and the CNA's do a wonderful job with them. There are several activities held for the patients each day. "

"I visited The Meadows. That's where I feel it's very home-like. They are exceptionally interested in me. I can describe my room that I'm gonna have. It's the largest room they have; a very large and vast room, they're painting the room, painting the bathroom, and putting in a new sink. They are getting it exceptionally well-prepared for me. It fits me very well. I'm an independent person, I take care of myself, and I don't need nursing care. I have a nurse coming in once a week from a home health, and take care of my weeks with the medications for me. It's very home-like; very welcoming."

"A friend of mine told me about Country Village Assisted Living and I liked it and placed my mother there. There is no special level of care. They just take care of them at whatever level they're in, however they are. She's not mobile, so they have to assist her in going to the bathroom, getting her up to eat, putting her in the wheelchair, and all that. The food is excellent. She's well taken care of. The staff is very empathetic and very well trained. It's very homey. She has her bedroom and there's a lady that has another bedroom next door to her, and then they have their own parlor. There are four bedrooms in another area, and those four people have their own parlor. It's very intimate and very cozy. The medical is also very good. The staff is kind, knowledgeable, and loving. The food is very good. Everything is homemade. It's very clean. They do the laundry every single day. If you wear a nightgown tonight, tomorrow it's on your bed all washed and cleaned and perfect. The place is older, but it's clean. They have a beautiful backyard. It's like an old farmhouse and they have a beautiful big porch in the front where you can sit outside. It's in the country, so it's lovely. The biggest fair in Maine is called Fryeburg Fair and that weekend they had a fair for their residents and they had all the fair food, the fried dough, and the homemade French fries. They had sausages, peppers, onions, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, goats, chickens, and bunnies for people to hold. It was just lovely. They have bingo every week and they have a hairdresser every week. They have a gentleman who comes in and plays the piano for the seniors. They had painting pumpkins and different things the other day. They have all kinds of activities. Value for money is very good. It's several thousand dollars less than anything else I've looked at. It's a very calm place and low-key. The people seem to be very happy. They know they're well taken care of and the staff cares about them, so they feel secure and safe. There are only 30 people in there. It's not a big place."

"Clover Manor seems to be a clean community. They take care of the residents and they seem very responsible. My father's room is a good size, he has an actual apartment-type room. It has a living room with a kitchen set-up, a huge walk-in closet, a good size bedroom with a closet in it, and a decent-sized bathroom. The maintenance takes care of whatever needs to be done. The community is in a nice location and the grounds are kept fairly well. They have plenty of activities for the residents and it's reasonably priced."

"I went to Woodlands Memory Care of Lewiston. It's quite new. I did notice a little bit that they were lacking in staff and were looking to hire. The interaction was good. I would say the intake representative was good and helped me with the application right on site, which was convenient. I didn't see much activity, and I didn't see many residents. My impression was that they were separated from each other and at separate tables. It seemed more like a cafeteria than the others. They actually had two very nice courtyards, and everything's new. It's just the location is not as wooded as some of the others. There were a lot of safety features and safety doors."

"My mom moved into Montello Heights. It's well-organized and clean. It's got a library. It's got one meal included and light housekeeping. The room is very nice. It's a studio apartment. We're managing out of pocket based on her benefits. And the people there are kind. Mom is pretty sharp. She's in her 80s, but she's got some mobility issues, and they're aware of that. The building is designed with wider hallways, and the room itself is designed for wider doors and wider entries to accommodate people who might be in scooters or in wheelchairs."

"My wife is an advanced Alzheimer patient, recently placed at Montello Manor. I visit her daily. The care that I have seen from both the staff and administration has been exemplary. They not only take excellent care of her physical needs but interact with her daily on a personal level. They greet me every day with a rundown on how her day has been going and keep me informed of any changes in her physical or mental condition. A staff that shows genuine excitement in letting me know each time she does something that exceeds expectations for her condition is a group that instills confidence in their abilities and concern for my wife. I can't thank them enough for their services.Getting through the emotional stress of being unable to continue caring for my wife at home has been greatly relieved by seeing how well she is cared for at Montello Manor. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants to see that their loved one is receiving better care than the individual, acting as home caregiver, can provide at home. "

"Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center seems fine. My sister likes it. Everyone seems very friendly. They have a nice cafeteria with choices of meals. It's a larger facility. They have a quite large rec room where people enjoy doing crafts and painting, which is nice because that's what my sister does. They have a nice outside garden area. They have wider halls compared to her last facility, which is nice, so you don't have too much trouble getting through the facility. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food looks good. She says it's good, and she likes having three choices. You can go to the cafeteria and sit and get waited on there, or you can eat in your room or the rec room. Their dining area is very nice. Everything looked good. My sister is in a double room. They're both in wheelchairs, so it is kind of hard to get around at times. That's just how it worked out. It's a little tight if you're both in wheelchairs because someone has to move so the other one can get by and get out the door."

"My father-in-law stayed at Bolster Heights Residential Care for respite. He needed some kind of assistance. It's decent. I realized from the very beginning when we went there, they were very kind and caring to him. They made it easy for him to feel at home. I didn't hear any complaints from him because he doesn't like to go to a nursing home. They had to call us to get permission to have him tested because he loves food too much, so I don't think the food was an issue. I've seen them doing some kind of an exercise workout. His room was spacious, nice, and clean. One thing is for sure, I would put him back there again if I needed to. If it's time for him to have a permanent placement, that's probably where he's gonna go. It's kind of an old facility. He came back to the house pretty happy. They were the cheapest that I could find. If it was for a longer term, the price would be a little bit less."

"My husband was in Marshwood Center for a couple of weeks and then passed away. He was in skilled nursing. They were about to put him into hospice, but that didn't happen because he passed away too soon. It seemed to be very good. I didn't have any qualms with it. They took fairly good care of him. We stayed most of the day, every day, so we kind of oversaw the care he was getting, which was good. The staff was very good. He was one of those patients they had to keep an eye on because he would try to get up and couldn't. They had him right across from the nurse's station so they could keep an eye on him. They don't want him to fall and that was a good thing. The structure was pretty good. It's been there a long time, so it does need some redo, could stand some paint and stuff, but it was clean. They had quite a few things going on, but we weren't part of it. He wasn't able to do that. The atmosphere was quite open. You come in the door and there's never anybody there, but we knew where we were headed generally. After the first time, it was not a problem for us, but like all of them, they could stand a little more help in the front office part of things, but it worked out for us. He had a nice private room which looked out on the back wood line. It's back in the area away from a lot of houses and stuff. It was quite pleasant. We had a birdfeeder out there and we'd just look outside. He had a reasonably good room."

"After losing her husband, my grandmother's mental health took a clear decline, and she could no longer live alone. She was constantly confused, and would wander the halls at night. After two months of family shifts at her home, we moved her to the Casco Inn. Though perhaps not the most luxurious facility, the Casco Inn is quiet, and has a "homey" feeling about it. The staff there are friendly, courteous, and attentive to their residents. There are social events provided for those who live there, and the ability to have their hair and nails done, which is nice. My grandmother is still confused much of the time, but she is safe, and well cared for, and that is what matters. "
