Heritage Manor of Houma was brand new. It's just been renovated, but it was, in my opinion, way too large. Mom could not have physically made it down the halls walking. It didn't have individual rooms. It had just enough room for a hospital bed and one chair. I didn't think that she was at that point where she was just going to be in a hospital bed or she only had a bed to go to in her room. You couldn't get the staff's attention. My sister had a sister-in-law in there, so we went to this unit to visit her and there was a woman that was falling out of the bed. I stayed with the woman and my sister had to go and find somebody to take care of her. We pressed the call button and it took a good five minutes for a staff member to come and take care of a person that was in distress. It was more like a hospital and not a home. We didn't have time to schedule a tour, and they didn't have an opening. Instead, we visited my sister's sister-in-law and I was able to see how it was run, and my sister and I both agreed that our mother wasn't at the point where she would be OK with just being in a room. It was a really large facility and the halls were long, and she would not have been able to handle that much walking to get to a main room or anything like that, so we decided against it. They had chefs that make the food for them and my sister-in-law remarked that the food was really good. She says that there were lots of activities, and they had things going on all the time. It was clean and beautiful. For somebody that doesn't have what my mother has, I would say it's probably a 5 and a really good deal, but you have to be able to have some mobility. I didn't find that they had as many staff members in the unit.

My mother moved into Heritage Manor of Houma. So far, it's good, they're doing really well. She enjoys the food, the staff is really helpful, and they've taken really good care of her. They call me for everything, to let me know what test they're gonna order and why, or what happened, or she fell, and they're very good at communicating.

Staff is rude and acts as if they do not want to be bothered. Found my mother sitting in urine multiple times. Found her medications on the floor several times. Prescribed treatments not provided. Mother reports staff refuses to bring her to bathroom. My mother has declined significantly since being admitted to facility. I am considering filing a report with Adult Protection and Medicaid.

Heritage Manor of Houma and family oriented facility. The staff main focus if the care for their resident. They really care for the resident. With activities and fun for the resident, Heritage Manor is awesome at taking care of their patients. Heritage Manor staff is one of a kind. The staff is certified and trained to care for all resident and patients. They rooms are spacious. The rooms are about the fit a mini fridge and a recliner. All the rooms come with cable and telephone hood up.

I would not bring my mother back to Heritage Manor of Houma. We had two emergency visits, five falls, and EDs with her. It's not appropriate for her. Some of the nurses were nice, but not all. It's like they don't care. If anybody would care, she wouldn't have fallen that many times. Everything in therapy was very good. She had a joint room with another patient that wasn't bad. When she has to go to the bathroom, sometimes it takes them an hour or an hour and a half to get her to the bathroom.
