My husband is in Heritage Specialty Care. I like the concern and care that they show their patients. It's a very nice facility. It's clean, orderly, open, and bright. The staff is very congenial and patient. I'm very satisfied with the care. Value for money is so far, so good. He said the meals are OK. They have therapy, entertainment, and a visiting area that's pretty nice. You can choose your food menu sometimes.

My husband was transferred to this facility for rehab after a month long stay at the UIHC. He has been there 3 days. He is completely bed ridden at this time so he needs help with everything. It has taken up to 1 hour for anyone to answer his call light. When someone comes to his room to see what he needs, they say they will be back and sometimes never come back. He has had to call the front desk and the intake person directly several times to get help. His first night there he asked for a TV remote, for someone to set up his C-Pap machine (they did not plug it in before they left so he had to call them back), he needed to be repositioned in the bed and have all the pads under him flattened out since they were all bunched up, he was cold and asked for a blanket as all they had on him was a sheet. It was after these calls for help that he was told by a staff member that he needed to stop pushing his light for "trivial things". The evening staff is even worse than the daytime staff. He just laid in his own waste for 1.5 hours before someone finally came to help him. I called the social worker at the UIHC to get him moved. This is ridiculous! If you can't care for a patient properly, don't accept them into your facility!

Sent my husband suffering from confusion out of the locked unit without anyone accompanying him to a hospital he had never been before in a city he had never been before in a transport van. The driver dropped my husband off at the ER door and told him to go in. There were no medical records sent either. My husband could've gotten lost, killed, anything could've happened!

My mother has lived at Heritage Specialty Care for several years now. She has been pretty happy there for the most part. I tell her that she is probably the only one that is happy there as most of the others would rather be in their own home. I do think some of the room set ups are not the best for taking care of a senior, they are well maintained by the staff. I have interactions with the staff quite often and they always address any concerns I have. My mother enjoys the music guests but they haven't been able to have those for a while de to covid.

I didn't like the environment at Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center. The room was too small, dark, and gloomy. It is just not cheerful to look at, and the staff wasn't that friendly. The rooms should be bigger.

As far as nursing homes go, this one seemed relatively well-managed. The facilities were clean and in general, well maintained. There were several polite nurses/CNAs who seemed to genuinely care about the work they were doing. There were others who seemed jaded by the job, but that is how it is no matter where you go, more or less. It's a nursing home, so it's not the most pleasant place to be, and the residents are not always in the best of spirits. From what I could tell, there were several activities and events for the residents, which is always nice. The cafeteria seemed clean. The landscaping was pleasing.
