"My aunt moved into The Retreat at Leisure Living. I really like that they provide meals for her during the week. She loves it there. I like that she's getting to meet new people and being around people on a daily basis. She is having so much fun. She loves working the puzzles and just getting to talk to people and taking trips. I like that they take them on trips and they get out in the community. The residents went to see the Fantasy of Lights over the holidays. She had her hair done, but it wasn't located at the facility. She had to drive down the road to it. They give them monitors to wear where they can push a button in case of emergency. My aunt loves the food, and they have a chef that comes in. The dining area was a nice size and I think it even has a grand piano right there. That's where they work their puzzles, and it has a nice, big fireplace. The part that she's in, she doesn't have to go outside to go to the dining hall or to go get her mail. It's all inside. They have outside doors where they can park and go out of their apartment, and then they have inside doors that are connected to a hall where they can go get their stuff. She took one of the rooms that also has an inside hallway. They take them to the doctors and they take them to Walmart every week. Her rent includes utilities, housekeeping every two weeks, and they pick up the garbage."

"I toured and it was very nice, neat, and clean. They had a good facility. I think the layouts were fairly nice and would meet our needs. We looked at a one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and they showed us a studio, which was not what we would want. For the one-bedroom layout there were two layouts, and one would be more to our liking. One of them was only big enough for like a double bed, or you could fit a queen-size bed in there. We have a king-size bed, so we were looking for something that would fit that. And the other one would. They had quite a few different layouts that were there. The staff member was awesome. She was very informative and very cordial. She's ex military, so we got to talk about that a little bit. She was just very, very well informed about what we needed and looked at some of the things that were interesting for us. She took quite a bit of time with us so that we would understand what our options were and pointed out a lot of the different things that would be interesting for us, and that was very nice. The dining area was not serving while we were there, but it looked really nice. She introduced the chef, and when we left, they gave us a nice box of cookies that were very good. It was kind of a restful time when we were there. She introduced us to some people that were there and showed us the different areas, like the availability of health care and the laundry room. I think it was a nice facility. The only drawback that we didn't like was it didn't have a private patio that we liked. They had a common area where you could go ahead and share gardening with some other people, but no private area. That area they had outside was quite large, and you could go out there and and pretty much be by yourself if you wanted to, but it was more of an area that had chairs and things where you go and visit with people, which would be fine for me because I'm a visitor. My wife is more of a private person, and she would like an area where she can be by herself."

"My grandparent is at Solarbron Pointe. It's a very nice community, well run, cared for, and very clean. There are a lot of activities that go on there for people. It seems like it would be a very homey situation. The room was very clean and very well organized. I thought it was a good place. The staff there was very nice, pleasant, and helpful. The dining area was very nice. They have a menu which you can pick and choose from. They had good food. I know they have activities. For the people that are capable, they can take them out. They can go to the Philharmonic, and they can go to different kinds of events that are in the city that they want to go to. They also have some things for them to do to be helpful. They fold fliers and send out stuff for the university that's near there. For what they pay, I think value for money is good."

"At Lakeside Manor, they didn’t have a walk-in shower for a one-bedroom unit, and that’s what I needed. The staff was very nice. The facility was clean. It is in a highway retail area, so there are places around but nothing on the premises. "

"Primrose Retirement Community of Duluth was a very nice facility, but it's too expensive. The staff was very pleasant and informative. Their facility was well laid out and attractive, and the apartments were spacious. Their location was a little isolated. We also met the chef and saw that the menu was varied. I think the kind of people who would want to visit Primrose are those who have a large financial reserve, since it's private pay."

"Park Place was smaller than other facilities and was strictly a retirement community, so it didn’t have healthcare on-site. There wasn't a restaurant, either. The person that showed me the apartment was nice. They have a walk-in shower in the room. The facility was fairly new. "
