"We selected La Vida at Mission Viejo. We like the size of the apartments, the location to our home, the amenities, and the decor, and it was upgraded. It was on a golf course and we like that. It was a nice view. The rooms were large, airy, had high ceilings, and upgraded and a lot of them had views. The hallways weren't exceptionally long. The staff that we met with were over-the-top, hands down, just fantastic people. We met someone who was doing entertainment during the day and the activities director. The woman who was taking us around was fantastic, very knowledgeable, very kind, and very patient. They had a movie theater, which I thought was well done with comfortable chairs and little tables. Mom would be able to access them because the chairs had arms on them to help push her up because she had a hard time with stability and strength. The decor was nice. It also had a game room, an art room, which I thought was pretty cool because I didn't see that everywhere, and the art room had easels and all types of different art that the residents could partake in. When you entered, there was a living room that was very inviting and that's where they had a piano and a fireplace and they were doing activities and trivia in there. They had another area that they were doing games in. The residents were playing dominoes in a separate area that had a bistro attached to it where they could get snacks and drinks during the day. They had a massage room, a beauty salon that did nails and hair, which we liked, a nice library, and a fitness room. It was great. It's fantastic."

"The grounds are beautiful. It’s located on a hillside. The hallways are 15 feet high, and they’ve got windows so it feels very bright. I think the staff is wonderful, they’re really a group that you can ask anyone a question, and none of them will say that’s not my job. They’ll take responsibility for the issue. The food is excellent, and my parents are very pleased with that. You can also eat at any time in the dining room. The rooms were pretty standard and clean with a small kitchenette. "

"The Meridian at Laguna Hills is very good. The overall experience was quite good. I did have a meal there, and it was delicious. The rooms are larger and far and away less expensive per square foot. Their price was a lot more affordable for me. I believe it's an older building, but they're in the process of remodeling and doing some upgrades. The one thing that really has me rating them highly is the fact that they had the one-bedroom with a den and one-and-a-half baths, which is exactly what I'm looking for. That area is very nice; I have a cousin who lives not too far from there. It works out well for me, and it's in a good location. They have indoor and outdoor movies, and they have really nice reclining chairs in their indoor movie theater. They have a pool, a jacuzzi, and the usual stuff, and some gardens that I plan to use. They have a garden area, and I think I can do a little gardening there also. I'm seriously thinking of following up on that."

"Woodbridge Terrace of Irvine is a beautiful facility. They are renovating it. So you get a newer feeling to it. You can tell there's new paint and new carpet. Even though they are still working in some areas, it's a very nice-looking place. It's clean and the garden is nice. They have things that are pretty much all that a person could ask for. They have a dining room, a library, and several lounge areas on each floor. They have a cafe but you could tell that the garden was the best selling point. The rooms I saw were nice big sizes, both with the terrace. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable."

"My parents moved into Atria Golden Creek. The staff is very kind and the facility is spotlessly clean. It's just great management and excellent food. They have a really nice theater, church services, a nice library, physical therapy, a nice beauty salon, and a nice bistro. My parents like the little bistro where they can order more of a relaxed breakfast and lunch as opposed to their formal dining room."

"We could not be happier with Park Terrace, but more importantly, our mother-in-law loves it. The staff is as friendly as you can get, the facility is immaculate and beautifully designed, they offer ample activities and "field" trips, the dinning room is lovely and serves extraordinary food and the grounds are well manicured and plush. If this wasn't enough, the cost is more than reasonable, regardless of the level of care. After two other facilities that were good, but not remarkable, we are grateful to have found Park Terrace and could not recommend them highly enough. "

"I thought the moving my dad in was going to be hard just because its a new environment but my dad adapted very well and that was because the staff welcomed him with open arms as if they had already met him before. I've gone everyday since then to visit him and he just seems so happy being there. I'm glad i made this move where not only is my dad happy but i'm happy and comfortable with him being there."

"We really liked them. It was very bright, cheerful, and really nice. The people seemed happy. I could live there. It seemed really nice. "

"Park Plaza is a very beautiful place, but the population is about 20 years older than my sister. The resident can be in a room and it can be either assisted or independent, depending if you purchase the extra services. There isn't one end that's assisted and one end that is independent. You actually purchase the assistance as a package, so it doesn't matter what room you're in. The room costs $4,200 and if you want assistance you add another $650. The other thing is the hefty community fee that you pay that's nonrefundable. It's $6,000 and people should be aware of that. They say when someone moves out, they redo the room. If your loved one goes in there and a month later they can't stay there anymore, you do not get that refunded. The studios were very nice. They were 450 square feet, but the layout was nice. The one-bedrooms were 550 square feet. They had a puzzle room and movies. I was there on a Sunday, so it was fairly empty. They have only 100 people there and a lot of them were not there at the time that we went. They had included in the fee electricity, internet, and meals. They seemed to have a nice dining room with a nice menu. My sister is a vegetarian and they could accommodate; they will make something that's not on the menu. Transportation could be to doctors' offices and that's included without purchasing level one. Level one is if someone needs help with the bath or medication management, stuff like that, which is approximately $700 extra. In addition to paying the $4,200 a month, the level of care goes up anywhere between $700 and $3,500 on top of that. It was a very nice and clean place, and the people seemed very nice. It's not too big, which is good. I didn't really talk to any staff other than Jennifer who was very nice."

"I toured The Meridian at Anaheim Hills. I liked it, but it's just too big of a place for my friend to be in. I've been there three times. That place is very beautiful. They're very pleasant. It's a nice place. I'd like to stay there when I'm old. The staff was very knowledgeable. It's just beautiful there. You drive up and there's this waterfall and it's very pretty. It's very clean and very well kept. It's also directly across the street from where I live. They have everything. They have a courtyard. I saw these women who were in this one room, and they were playing bowling where it was on the TV. Then we went into another room, and they had popcorn, and I had some popcorn. Then the staff took me into the salon. They have a salon, and you can get a massage there. It's very big and beautiful."

"Rowntree Gardens staff was very friendly. It's an older place and it's been around for a while, but it was nice. There were a lot of people there. It was very clean and well maintained. They also had skilled nursing in the same location, which was a plus. They had a wide range of activities and apartments and the space was just right. The facility was well kept up. Parking was fine, and they close the gate at night and you had to call to get in."

"I went to Walnut Village. It was a very nice facility. The people working there seemed to be doing well. They were very, very nice. The surroundings were very, very nice. They have a very wide variety of activities. They have an indoor pool and swimming activities. They have exercise programs and reading programs. Walnut Village was a very nice facility. "

"Corona RCFE was very nice, and the people were very friendly. The grounds were good. The room is perfect for my mother who is 92. She just needs a room with a little bed, a chair, and a TV. That's all she needs. It looks like she can go out and go to the dining room area, and things like that, and they have those things available too. The staff who helped me was very friendly and answered all the questions. She was very good. I didn't sample the food, but the dining area was fine. For activities, they have a little room where people can go and they can meet with each other and play games and so on, so that's fine."
