Odd Fellow - Rebekah Home was a larger facility and it had two different Alzheimer's wards, a general population ward, private rooms and semi-private rooms. They also had a courtyard and four different dining facilities in the building. I found it to be very attractive, and my wife spent her last living days there. The two Alzheimer's wards had one for the more severely impaired from a cognitive perspective and the regular ward, which was for people that were ambulatory, could get by by themselves, and required less attention. Both of them were very nice and had their own private dining facilities, television, games, activities, entertainment. They had a full-time person that came in and played games with them and taught them how to use rubber hammers to help them with their manual dexterity, roll rubber balls back and forth to them, and walked with them around the facility. The facility was very good and laid out nicely for walking.

Stay away from here. The place is massively under staffed and ignores patients call button. My friend regularly waits over an hour to be helped when he uses his bed pan, and has more than once screamed for help without anyone coming. He once screamed at the top of his lungs until his throat couldn't take it anymore. He now has panic attacks regularly and cries all the time. I can't wait til he can get into another facility.

Although the facility is large and has many residents, the amount of care given to each resident is balanced and sufficient. There are many halls in a few different buildings, all clean and active. The Alzheimer's annex is remarkable! I walked through the doors and it even smelled clean and fresh. There is a very comfortable cozy feeling to the main living space, which the residents share. The nurses and CNAs that work there are friendly with those visiting and those living there. What impressed me the most about the staff I encountered and observed was the amount of patience they showed. They showed this patience not only to myself, as I knew little to nothing of how things operated and where things were, but also to those residents who were in the later stages of functioning Alzheimer's that required more constant attention and assistance. I saw while I was there a schedule for these residents. There were activities everyday to stimulate and maintain their mental, spiritual, and physical health. The overall cleanliness and family oriented spirit of this facility shows true care and ability.

The resident bathrooms are unaccessable for residents requiring wide wheel chairs because it requires a 45 degree turn from a narrow "isle" just inside the door to the hall. While it is true that my MIL can't use the toilet by herself, she also can't get into the space to wash her hand, or take care of her teeth. I find this disgustingly unsanitary so I'll be looking somewhere else when my turn comes.
