I have my husband at Skylark Adult Day Center of Cobb two days a week. So far, it's fine. Every month they put out a calendar of events, they feed them breakfast, lunch, and a snack, they take people offsite for exercises, they have an art program, there's an outdoor area for people who like gardening, and after snack they have discussion time and quiet time where they can watch television. They try to keep people engaged and have activities planned for them. There are special days where they celebrate birthdays. My concern with my husband is that he requires somebody to watch him and be there with him because he has had several strokes, so he's a high risk for falling. When I came to pick him up today, the nurse was leaving as I was coming in. She let me in, but my husband was walking by himself, coming to the door to meet me. The attendant was on the phone in a separate room behind glass where she could see him. During normal hours, from 9:00 until 3:00, it's fully staffed. They have a lot of staff for the attendants, but it was 4:30 when I picked him up. It appeared that everybody had left and so people were sitting in chairs waiting for their families to pick them up. The first time I left him there, he tried to get up and he fell over with the chair and everything else. During the primary hours, they have a good staff to attendee ratio. The staff is very caring, and the facility is clean.
