In the beginning The Summit in Plaintsville seemed like a good place, I was happy to have my loved one close by, But as time went on and me and my family visited we saw the deplorable conditions and treatment of the elderly who are vulnerable and couldn't speak up for themselves, they were left dirty with food all over them crying out for help and when it was reported nothing was done, you were given the runaround or told things would change and they never did, unfortunately my situation ended with my aunt dying because of malnutrition and dehydration, when she was brought to Bradley Hospital, the doctors told us she should never have gotten this bad , they knew that it was happening. To them it was just another bed opening-up, to us it was a tragedy, I had them investigated by the state and they were sited on many infractions, I just hope no one makes the mistake I did and has to lose a loved one and live with that forever.

Very disappointed with the care for my relative. Due to covid, proper procedures were in place, but not followed. My relative was subjected to being in quarantine several times because the roommate was sent out for treatment. My relative did not get the proper care that was required and even though I spoke with the Administrator, the APRN, the ADNS and the nurses, nothing was done. In the end, my relative was finally taken to the hospital and was so ill, was put in hospice and died. I feel that the care was lacking and the almighty dollar is more important to the staff than the residents. What should have been a 3 to 4 week rehab end up as a death sentence. I would not recommend The Summit at Plantsville to anyone.

Unfortunately my aunt has passed. she was neglected and not cared for properly, some of the people who work there were good, but ultimately that didn't matter. If everyone doesn't do their job to Care For an elderly patient, that's all it takes and you're forever asking what if I had chosen a better place

My mom was admitted on a holiday weekend-staff appeared very caring and concerned. Mom says food is good, and she appears to like it there, which I never expected. The staff that was on that weekend also acted very nicely to other patients who had no family with them at that moment. Everyone on staff that I encountered appeared calm and professional, but friendly and responsive to the patient's needs. The only downside was that her shared bathroom in her room did not appear clean. It WAS a holiday weekend, though, and they may have been short-staffed. I used the soap and paper towels to clean the sink, toilet and grab bars so they would be clean for her to use. Beds, nightstands and other furniture looked clean, so that was the only downside I noticed that day.

My mother-in-law was a patient at The Summit for three weeks; she became very weak after being ill. She need rehabilitation to get her back to baseline to enable her to continue living on her own. Mom arrived on Friday afternoon afternoon. I was so surprised to learn they had a rehab specialist on Saturday and Sunday, in addition to Monday through Friday. They brought her from being wheelchair bound to using a walker. The staff was wonderful; a high ratio of aids to patients. The nurse in her unit came right away when I discovered a rash on her back. Response time was very prompt. The staff had several meetings with us during which time they updated her progress, needs, and medications. They made countless calls to her health insurance company and doctors. Mom is home now and feeling better and getting stronger every day. I would definitely recommend The Summit to anyone .
