Brookdale Kettleman Lane appears to be a warm, caring community. It's a standalone community where it's a building that is just memory care. My husband likes to be busy and likes to do things outside and they have a rather large outside area which would suit him well. However, the showers are outside of rooms, and they're pretty far away. So I don't know if my husband is going to be able to learn to go there on his own. And I see him being escorted, which is an additional cost of several hundred dollars a month. The food looked wonderful. I just can't believe the kind of food that they put out. Another real positive for Brookdale is on their website, they have their menu, and they have their schedule of activities. I have not seen that on any other websites for any of these. You can see what they're busy doing. I met two staff members and was treated very, very well. Of the three places I've been, it was the most open and had the most availability for the residents to walk around and go and move. I think they would feel like you've got the most freedom there.

Brookdale Kettleman Lane was very nice, but a little more expensive. One nice thing about this facility is that I could go whenever I can and this place is four minutes from the church I go to. It was a very nice building. It was comparable to where my husband is in terms of cleanliness and staff. The people that were living there looked happy. They had private and shared rooms. If I wanted a private room for him, it would cost a lot more. They had security.

I toured Brookdale Kettleman Lane in Lodi. It's a memory care but I know Brookdale also has an assisted living in that area too. I just didn't like that whole locked-up feeling and I didn't want my mom in that kind of environment either. Everybody was very nice there though, and very helpful. I thought that it would be a good place for her to be but maybe at a different time. The shared room cost is all my mom could have afforded there and my mom did not want to share a room with anyone, so cost was also a big factor. We walked around the whole facility and some of their community rooms. It was really a beautiful place. I saw an outdoor area and it was really nice, big, and had trees. They had a lot of activities there too and it was well-maintained.

Brookdale Kettleman Lane had assisted living and memory care. The rooms were small, but they were fine, clean and thought out well. The staff that I met there seemed nice. I also saw their dining room.

Brookdale Kettleman Lane was very nice. They had a memory care section, which is what we focused on. If my mother-in-law was a little bit more independent, we would've put her there. If I had somebody who had Alzheimer's or dementia that didn't have the mobility issues, it would be a perfect place. The people were great. We were just about ready to move her in when she had a setback. She needed more help than what they're set up for.

My dad is in Emeritus at Austin Gardens. The place is very nice. It is like a fancy upscale hotel. The rooms are nicer than most motel rooms I have stayed in. It is like he lives in a resort or a spa. I eat there, and it is good. The dining room looks fancy with cloth tablecloths, and it looks like you are in a nice restaurant. I know they have a crafts room. They do sing alongs, and they have something going on, but it is Alzheimer's care facility, and most of the people are wandering around; they don't even know what day it is. The security is fine.

Horrible care. Checking on a resident every three hours when they have days to weeks to live. Dressing, feeding and toileting care is not monitored properly unless they know the family is watching or upset.

At Emeritus at Austin Gardens, I've seen a room, and it looked like any other room. It appeared to be clean though. The place appeared to be secured. Emeritus at Austin Gardens was a very nice place and very well lit. There were a lot of outside light. It was nice and clean, but the only thing that concerned me is that they didn't have any hospital beds there. All they had were regular twin beds.

I did get to see Emeritus at Austin Garden and the staff are very nice people. They give nice care for elderly folks who have Alzheimer's. The staff said that they give the residents a choice of two things for the food and if they don’t like it then they can just choose for themselves.
